right now i’m using 10w30 motor oil for my car. i lived in a climate where its not too hot or cold. and i was thinking of using a 5w30 motor oil. i read the manuel and it says using 5w30 saves fuel. correct me if i’m wrong. if it does save fuel, can i change to 5w30? my car has a little over 130k miles.
5w30 will not hurt your engine.
Not sure if it will actually save you gas though…
heres some links discussing about certain types of oil, weight…etc. not sure if it’ll answer your question or not, but might be useful to read.
I changed from 10 30 to 5 30 and got better gas milage. and I have 160000 miles on my teg. Just make sure your engine isnt leaking, if it is you will have to be pouring in oil all the time.
5w30 creates less friction, hence better gas mileage. some newer vehicles recommend 5w20 now.
i use synthetic 5w30

well, there is less friction…so ur motor will run more efficiently…therefore, if you want to put it in those terms, ‘no’, in fact it will give you more ‘hp’ (negligible though)
