Is my mechanic ripping me off?

I was quoted over $600 for a master brake cylinder. I thought those were $15 parts? Maybe I’m wrong or maybe it is labor intensive. would i be getting ripped off by paying this?

Oh and P.S. sorry to everyone who has seen my latest threads… I am surprised :fingban: didn’t happen.

that seems pretty high. My clutch was changed for around that much. I think that’s a tougher job.

Yeah that seems a little high, but if you cant do it yourself you are the mercy of whoever is doing the work.

calls for 1.7HR

std 65/HR shop rate

127+part

part=~70-120

if you shop around im sure you will find shops that will do it for much cheaper, as most shop do not go by hour

Yeah dude, I did mine in the driveway in the winter and it only took a couple hours start to finish. Whoever is charging you $600 is a fucking asshole.

Thanks I have a couple mechanics that I am going to get quotes from. Hopefully I find a good one!

i charge u 40 - 60

$50+part if it was me. 600 is an ass rape for an hr of work. not a little high but ridiculous. wouldnt even pay 200

Bay Auto in Costa Mesa… Ask for Joe.

Chet’s Automotive. Costa Mesa… Ask for Robbie.

JAJ Auto Repair. Costa Mesa… Ask for Ramon.

Very legit shops, good work, and people i trusted with my DA.

I worked in Costa Mesa for 5+ years, as a technician, and we had accounts with all of them. All very good standing guys.

Let them know Ho, the guy that used to work for the “dumbass Danny” at Mesa Smog. they’ll know me…

HTH.
