Is my tranny a GSR tranny?

I have recently got a tranny for free and was told is was from a GSR, i was not told year or anything… the code on it is A1-1043638… If anyone can help me figure out what year and if this tranny is better than the stock one i have in my 90 Ls i would appreciate it very much. ThANKS CHAD

A1 is a 90-91 LS tranny, you could have found this out by searching. gs-r tranny is labeled ys1.

but?

but i have four ls tranny’s 90 and 91 and they are all labeled s1-xxxxxx , so how can a A1-xxxxxx be a stock tranny from an 90 ls?

s1,a1 is 90-91 LS
s1 can also be jdm b16 tranny too

“This could be”… because that is how honda motors of America/Acura decided to label their transmissions.

90-91 transmissions: USDM label

a-1 USDM LS tranny
y-1 USDM/ JDM LS +b16
s-1 USDM / JDM LS+b16
j-1 JDM b16

92-93 (USDM label)
ys1 ls/gsr/b16 jdm/usdm

ok thanks

ok thanks, so there would be no benefit in switching them out i take it. thanks for the input guys. \Chad

Switching to an A-1? I don’t think so. Out of all the 90-91 USDM LS trannies I think that is my least favorite. I have had nothing but strings of bad luck with them. I am not sure nor can I verify if they were made using inferior parts or manufacturing but EVERYONE of the A-1 trannies I have owned were shit.

you could make some interesting artistic or furniture pieces w/ the tranny parts…crack her open and start makind jewelry or weapons or something…who knows?

comin straight outa compton
mf name ice cube from a gang called nwa

yeah make a trash can out of em…

haha

hahahaha ok i will do that. im thinking that i will make a toilet seat out of it so i can shit on it all the time . :O)

So a ys1 is a gsr tranny? Cause i have a 93 gs and my tranny says ys1

all 92-93 trannys are labled ys1
urs is an Ls/gs/rs LONg gear ys1

read again above…
