Is the AC belt sopposed to always be turning?

I don’t remember my AC belt always being on when the AC itself is off. So is it sopposed to be running while my AC is turned off.

Thanks,
Ryan

I think so. Isn’t it connected to the crankpulley? The only way it could stop turning is if the crank stopped turning (car would be off). this is my theory anyway, I haven’t gone outside and looked really. My A/C doesn’t work, I don’t have a belt on the compressor. HTH

ryuyszh is right. It is connected to the crank pulley and the only way that is going to stop is if the engine is turned off.

On ANY car, the A/C belt ALWAYS turns. When you turn on the A/C an electro/mechcanical clutch behide the pulley on the compressor engages and the compressor spins.
