Is there a company with a lexan window part # for our cars? I know that there is a company who sells a replacement window for the DA, it isn’t lexan and it is soooo expensive. But what about lexan?
yes flex a lite makes them for the rear half. they are on summit but there are other places to get them as well…as for the front half…you got me…but im sure someone could make them for the right price. the fal ones arent cheap either.
Thanks! I’m trying to lighten up my car. I was also wondering how much the front and rear bumper supports weigh on our cars, because they are typically heavy on other cars from different manufacturers.
My goal is to get at or below 2450 (car only). I plan on doing this without destroying the credibility of the car. I believe my car is currently at or below 2530. I have completely removed the stereo and alarm.
why? both things hardly weigh that much at all.
you would sacrifice some security of your car just to save at most 2 pounds?
stereo unit - 5lb’s maybe?
speakers - 3lb’s each maybe?
wires? - pshh
alarm unit - 1lb
alarm siren - 1lb
now, do you really want to have your car gone one day because you were trying to save 2lb’s?
go put your alarm back in…
just take a shit before a race, you’ll lose more weight that way…
Sorry I didn’t mention it before, but my stereo had a few problems and the alarm didn’t work. In order to replace/fix both items, I would have had to spend several hundred bucks. By the way, it’s already tooooo late for the stereo and the alarm, mainly because they’re compacted beneath a landfill mountain somewhere here in Louisiana. At least that is where they went after I smashed them with a huge hammer.
By the way, I found out that the front bumper support in our cars weighs 28 pounds. I also found out that the 91-92 JDM version is only 3 pounds. Makes me wonder how much the rear bumper support weighs.
So I guess that I have and can remove the following:
-radio/alarm (completely removed) = 10-15 lbs.
-front bumper support = 25 lbs.
-rear bumper support = ? hoping for the best on this one.
-rear FAL window = 15 lbs. (rough estimate)
-carbon fiber hood = 20 lbs. (rough estimate)
-carbon fiber rear hatch = 15 lbs (rough estimate)
-spare tire and equip. = 25 lbs.
-rear trunk mats = 7 lbs.
-trunk flip down sheild = 4 lbs.
-replace steering wheel w/ lighter one = 3 lbs.
-replace front seats with lighter ones = 15 lbs. (rough estimate)
-remove back rests for rear seat (optional) = 15 lbs (rough estimate)
See, everything on the list pertains to removing items that won’t make your car look like a nascar on the inside. Removing the back rests for the rear seat may be pushing it a little because you would be able to see the bare flooring in the trunk area. But the car still looks normal and unmangled. It would probably look better with all of that carbon fiber on the outside.
Stage 2: If you want to veer off into the lightweight world of the civic eg/ek coupes, you could do the following:
-complete carpet removal
-front and rear passenger seat removal
-interior paneling removal (this doesn’t include the dash and shifter/console paneling)
-headliner
-lexan moon roof glass
-lexan windshield (just keep your mouth shut when you go to get an inspection)
-windshield washer fluid pump and reservoir removal
-rear windsheild wiper removal
-remove antenna and motor
Stage 3: Stupid, but bareable.
-removal of a/c (compressor, underdash a/c and heater related stuff, condensor, heater core, etc.)
-install civic 1/2 size radiator
-remove power steering completely
-remove fuel tank and install trunk mounted fuel cell
-remove any potential safety air bag that may be installed on car.
Both, stages 2 and 3 get way out of hand with the lightening process. However, you can get your can extremely light.
if it wasnt working before, ok…
estimates…
15lb’s saved from fal rear hatch plexi vs. oem glass
15lb’s saved from cf rear hatch vs oem
it’ll remove more weight then that. stock glass w/ stock hatch is somewhere near 70lb’s or something, afterwards, im sure it wont be anymore then 15lb’s…
good stuff, is this a want list, or a list that you actually plan on doing… u know how much all of this stuff is right?
I edited the list found in reply #6. And no, I haven’t done any of the things on the list except for the removal of the stereo/alarm. Stages 2 and 3 are crazy. However, you’ll be able to either run with or outrun a hatch.
The weight of the items listed are logically estimated. I gave all of the items the benefit of the doubt as far as their weight. I didn’t want to overly estimate the weight of something.

Txracer guesses that the CF hatch and hood with lexan rear windows is worth about 50 lbs.
how does removing the windsheild wiper be classified as stage 2 and crazy?
this one been one of the first things many members have done with their cars, and is not crazy.
hardly an issue considering no 90-93 integras came with air bags.
Oh, I guess it’s a happy thing and not a crazy thing. Sorry!
I thought air bags were an option for our cars. Well if they weren’t, then I suppose you can’t remove them then.
I remember this one guy on another forum was removing stuff that I didn’t even dare to put on stage 3 of my list. He went nuts on his car. Most of the dash was removed. I guess his lightening job would fall into stage 10000000000000000 or something. It would be like buying a car that went through the first 20% of the assembly line tasks, and going straight to the engine installation part, and then to paint, and being done after that. That’s like 30% of a complete integra. Whoa!
:sucks:
:mensa:
Definitely sucks. That’s funny, i’m bashing my own topic. That’s how you know it really sucks.
