i was driving my car hard and when i hit 7000 rpms it felt like my engine just quit on me.I knkow that it isn’t safe to go past stock redline if you haven’t built up your bottom end but i thought you still could. Is there a reason why mine cuts out at 7000 rpms? Is this a bad thing i did to my engine?I have i/h/e as well
it’s a fuel cut-off… not too great to keep on hitting that… you run the risk of lots of internals (pistons, cams, valves) going “fubar.”

its called the “rev-limiter” and it does just that. however it is NOT a fuel cut off. cutting the fuel at those rpms could be very dangerous (detonation). Instead it just cuts spark.
o’k so this is normal than? I did it twice but didn’t like the feeling when i did this. How i get a higher rev limiter? Would a new computer chip help or do i need to build up the engine and bottom end first

Get your ECU chipped if you want a higher rev-limit especially with hotter cams.
I wouldn’t recommend doing this on a virtually stock engine as your piston rings will be fried in no time.
STOCK INTERNALS + 7 grand = kabooooooooom
hehe, well not a kaboom but most of your internals will get warped or in the words of another member “FUBAR” lol
