I've sprung a leak!

Done some searching on the topic, but I just want to make sure and get a better idea of what is going on.

So today I go to jack my car up to install my short shifter and I see this grayish “gunk” on the upper backside of the oil pan and all over the place in the same region but more towards the rear of the car (near oil pan region).

Car: 1993 Integra GS
Newer clutch (installed by mechanic)
lowered w/neuspeeds and kyb’s
i/e
other than that no engine / suspension mods etc.

What I got out of the search are about 3 things if indeed it is oil…

  1. Valve Cover Gasket
  2. Distributor Gasket
  3. Some other seal somethin or other.

Not sure on where those are or if they exist. NO oil leak visible any where in engine bay when overhead. NO oil drips visible on ground where I park at night.

Help me out and give me an idea what it could be and approx how long/much it’ll take to fix so I don’t get ripped off.

Thanks in advance.

when u sell me ur corners maybe ill take a look at it. did u look at the area with the car on to see if u see anything drippin/leakin? o well how low was the oil gunk shiz? peace

Ever had your water pump replaced? Could be that is leakin and maybe mixing with oil from a bad oil pan gasket. Just an idea though.

Could it be just oil build up from the oil filter, since everytime u take it off it drips down the back of the block and some people don’t clean it off?

heres a thought since its by the oil pan and since its grey . is it you cv boot , when you drive the force will spay it all over, also it is usually grey if not greenish,.since its thik it doesnt drip it will stick to the parts , so no visible leaks then this is my vote

well maybe he should clean his engine and he might get somewhere lol. peace

Im going with R@ce on this one

I blow CV boots like its cool. got to love my b18a. too bad it died.
when i blow them that grey goop gets all over the fricking place. and man if you have never seen what it is or know what you have blown then you freak out like its cool. that stuff gets ALL OVER and is NASTY. cleaning takes forever. no matter how many times i have put cleaner on the teg bay or hp wash its still some where. When i swap out the 18 with the 17a im going to clean the bay with a toothbrush.
good luck.

i would clean off your teg and check it in 2 or 3 days time. depending on your driving, i drive love to drive and after work i go for like 3 or 4h spins.

Im throwing in my vote for a blown cv boot. It makes a greyish poopy mess all over your undercarriage; like stated before.

okay this little confusion is getting out of hand. There is a little boot where your shifter meets with the rod that goes into your transmission and where the rod meets the ransmission. Guess what? it has some all purpose grease in it as well. thats the nasty grey stuff…saame stuff thats in your cv boots and many other joints throughout the car. maksure that little boot has the band on the ned closest to the tranny… or else it will go dry. I’m guessing it got pulled out by accident when you put in your short shifter. i’ll try to get a pic up tonight with what i am talking about.
