j35 sh-awd da9 build thread

whats going on guys,
so after weeks of researching and searching junkyards, ive come up with a plan. everyone that ive talked to about doing the j swap in the da has al mentioned the amount of understeer that the da will have with that big of an engine in the front. so ive come up with the plan of building an all out monster with this build.

plans as folows
j35 with j32 heads. 300ish hp
trans and everthing else from the 2010 6spd sh-awd tl
or if i cant find one of those,
2005–2008 Acura RL Sedan
2009-TBD Mid-Model Change Acura RL Sedan

don from rpm systems has been a great help so far.
as well as everyone over at j32a.com

if you dont know what the sh-awd is here is a link for the wiki-full-o-info pagehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SH-AWD

as i start peicing things together i will post pictures. and will keep everyone updated as the build goes on.

PUTTING THIS ON HOLD FOR A LITTLE WHILE. IM GOING TO WAIT UNTILL THE J SWAP GETS A LITTLE BIGGER. THERE IS JUST NO SUPORT ON THIS THING. AND THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD BE ABLE TO PIECE TOGETHER IN MY GARAGE.

IM GOING WITH A LS/VTEC FOR THE TIME BEING. I AM STILL VERY MUCH WORKING ON THIS. SO DONT GET ALL DOWN ABOUT IT. ITS JUST GOING TO TAKE ALOT LONGER THAN EXPECTED.

Hell yeah man. Can’t wait to see this one. Good luck. Subscribed!!!

sub’d

I support you on this project. Would be nice to see a G2 first of such a feat. J swap in a G2 sounds like some archieve action for the future. I wish you good luck.

i REALLY hope this swap has enough clearance to not look like a giant beluga whale.

good luck, keep us updated

aww, man. that’s gonna require hacking the shit outta the floor. anything’s possible though.
shit’s gettin real crazy these days

remember the rwd h22?

I’ve always wanted to see our cars with the 4ws system from the prelude in them…

This should be cool! Good luck. :read:

Good luck on the awd conversion! I attempted on my first teggy and gave up half way. :frowning:

Im so going to be watching this thread like a hawk:up:

please dont hesitate to post as many details on the J swap as possible:)

Gonna start pulling her apart in the next week or so. Got my eyes on a few Donner cars for the awd system and motor. Right now. I’m still working with don at rpm systems in NY on getting the drive by wire setup configured so that I can use the newer models and also be able to have it a 6sod and not triptronic. will deff. Keep everyone posted on how this goes.

sweet. i wanna see how it turns out. i was thinking of the same thing. an AWD da:rockon:

Good luck i would love to see this happen. but if the awd plans dont work out itle still be nuts to see a fwd v6 da.

Hasport recently released a j mount kit for the crx-ef. Do you plan on modifying those or do you plan on making your own? I guess they will be custom for the awd to work?

im not sure if im going to be able to use the crx-ef mounts or not. more the likely i will get those and modify them to work.
i should be getting started on this real soon. going to get the car painted and get the cage put in while waiting to get motor trans and all that junk. im still working to Don from RPM SYSTEMS in NY on what motor trans setup im going to have to use. will get before shots here pretty soon.

thanks for all your support guys.

are you planing on running the tl cluster?
I would think the ef mounts would be usable or easily modifiable.

I plan in trying the tl Cluster out . But it depends on how it looks. In going to pull the dash out anyway. So while its out I’m going to get and fab it up. But if not I will be using a. DC cluster. as is uses a vss and not cable speedometer.

Its very easy to use the dc speedo in the da cluster. Im using an rsx vss on my k trans and it works perfectly.

what kind of rear diff setup are you goin to use? What knuckles?

For the shawd to work I have to use the differential from the same car I get the trans and transfwrcase from to keep the gears right. I’m not sure yet about the knuckles. this is still a huge work in progress. When I get all the questions answered I will let you know.
