i have a pair of mugen replica sideskirts that have been sitting in my garage for almost 2years, and ive decided to put them on my car finally this spring. my car is lowered about 2.5 inches and i was wondering how to go about jacking up the car with the sides on. i noticed that they tuck under the car up to where the frame is and as it is the floorjack bangs the frame unless i have someone rock the car or take one jack and jack it up from the rear and then put another one on the side. is it in risk of cracking easy. i dont want to go through all this work of an install / gluing them to my car to crack them in a month and have to deal with taking them off.
The rad support in your car is strong enough to take jacking up the whole front end of your car. If you are not doing suspension work then put your jack stands under the front lower control arms to hold the car up. If you are then put them at the torque boxes (the jack points on your car are at the four corners of the passenger compartment on the pinch weld. The torque box is the area just on the other side of that pinch weld where the door pillar meets the floor). Do not try to put it on the floor rails because even though they look like frame rails they are not. If clearance is a big issue to getting the jack under the car then drive the front tires up on to a couple of blocks of wood to give you some extra height. Always give the car a little shake after setting it onto the jack stands regardless of where they are, better for it to fall off onto a stand than your head.
