Okay, so you got those JDM 1 Pieces you always wanted. Not too many pic step by steps out there hu? Well here ya go.
Step 1:
Eww… USDM, gotta get rid of that!
Step 2:
These lights are old. I suggest you use some black silicon around the edges to seal up the lights just in case…
Step 3:
If the rubber seals on the edges are coming off, black silicon can seal them up against the light as well. Once all siliconed up, leave lights to dry a bit
Step 4:
Clean those lights off with something like windex or whatever, then pick up a bottle of meguire’s Plastx, clear plastic polish and go to town on the lights. It’s easier to do it while they’re off the car…
Step 5:
Now we gotta get that bumper off. Start with the 4 bolts shown
Step 6:
Two screws in the wheelwell come off as well.
Step 7:
Remove the bumper signal lights and note the 4 bolts behind. Undo these, but before doing that…
Step 8:
You require one of these to help pull it off. A pal who will work for free or for beer.
Step 9:
Three bolts on the top of the USDM Headlights come off, as well as these 2 bolts underneath.
Step 10:
Now we gotta wire these harnesses in. The fogs and peanut bulbs are easy. Black = Ground, Red = Positive, but the headlight…
Drivers Side uses Red/Yellow and Red/Green, Passenger side uses Red/Blue and Red/White. Both use black for ground though… See the legend.
Step 11:
Solder and Heatshrink all connections. Don’t do a twist n’ tape half assed job!
Test each headlight bulb individually. If you havent made any mods, your fogs should go off during high beam, and on during low. If they stay on for some reason, or the headlights seem quite dim, you’ve mixed up the wiring.
Step 12:
Bolt the 1 Pieces in place of the old ulgy USDMs, but before putting the bumper back on, check alignment of the lights by closing the hood. (And to give you a taste of the final project LOL)
Step 13:
Do steps 5-8 in reverse, and sit there enjoying your new look.
Peace!
