i have a 93 integra LS my tranny broke down and i need a new one. well i got this guy that is selling me a usdm DB2 gs-r tranny for 850! (he doesn’t know how many miles it has. i also got this shop AUTOLINK MOTORWORKS that for that same price of $850 can get me a b16 short gear tranny and install it! i just have to bring them the clutch. and plus if it doesnt work or if it grinds in any gear when they install it they will replace it and get me another one! and the guy selling the GS-R tranny is selling it “AS IS” with no warrenty! what should i do?.. and how do i choose what type of clutch i need? by the type of engine that i have? (93 LS) or by the type of transmission that i’m using? I know that both the 92-93 integra LS/GS-R use the same clutch. but can i use the same one with the jdm B16 tranny?
if the jdm b16a tranny is a ys1 then u can use ur old cltuch (big spine)
if its the jdm b16 s1/j1/y1 tranny you need a 90-91 small spine clutch
correct me if im wrong but there is no b16 ys1, the b16 short gear is a s1 tranny and it has a different clutch then the 92+ and yes all the clutches for 92-01 are the same. The hydro and cable transmissions dont make a difference. The only thing i would worry about is the guy ripping you off…theres no way to really tell if its a short gear or long gear ys1 until its in and ur driving and atleast the shop gives u a guarentee that u will be leaving with a working short geared transmission so its really a thumbs down…go with the shop.
u are wrong
the late xsi had the ys1 and a lsd option
the late xsi had the ys1 and a lsd option
and you sir are correct! I’ve got that exact swap in my DA. The xsi close gear ys1 is an awesome transmission.
like i said correct me if im wrong but is that short gear ys1 the same as the gsr?
yes same but has lsd option
usa ys1 short gear never had a lsd option
