jdm fog bulb tube burnt

I have had a set of jdm one piece headlights for about 7 years now. I know factory bulb is 35 watt. I have been using 55 watt (only thing available at the auto store) and I believe I burnt a yellow sleeve in the fog light. One is bright sunny yellow as the day I installed them, but over the past year or two the other has been getting more and more dark yellow like dog piss! I can see a dark spot through the lense itself so I’m sure its been charred or got too hot. Is there any way I can replace that yellow tube or am I better off just buying another used one piece??

The only way to remove/install the yellow glass-tube is to open the headlight housing.

Its possible that its just gotten dirty and needs a cleaning… but the high-wattage bulb could indeed be a reason as well.

Oh I didn’t know that was glass haha. I just assumed it was plastic and thought I melted it. I have to take the lights apart anyway, one has moisture building up inside of it. Its the good light though, the dark nasty one is the dry one. Weird.

hey i just re did mine, i had to take the headlight apart, and i had bought a set of those yellow glass peices off a another member on here. mine did the same thing one yellow and one was brown.

Are we talking about the bulb itself here? My one fog started going brown as well and I’m not quite sure what the is being mentioned here, I just thought it was the bulb itself that was messing up.

No, its not the light bulb itself. Inside of the headlight housing is a yellow tube that the bulb sits inside of. This creating the yellow light after you put a clear light bulb in your fog light. I have used many different bulbs and one fog light is always dark yellow, almost brown. Like the other user stated, one yellow tube is most likely burnt fromm too much heat or just dirty. Solution requires taking the whole lense off of the headlight and either cleaning the yellow fog light tube, or replacing it. And we are talking about the jdm one piece lights. Hope that helps.

Ya that does help. I have two sets of one pieces so I will check the set I currently have torn apart to check this out and hopefully fix my other set once these go on. Appreciate it

K bumpin this back up. the spare one pieces I took apart don’t have the yellow tube, is there any way to get replacements since I possibly may need a 3rd tube or just get 4 if I can?

I have three spare yellow capsules. If you’re interested in buying them email me @ michaelessila@yahoo.com

Tried e mailing you but it won’t send. Do you have another email? oscarlopez@live.ca is mine if you could send me how much shipped for all 3 to Ontario canada

Oops I’m retarded. I accidentally combined my two emails. The correct email is michaelessila@gmail.com and it goes straight to my phone. Shipping to canada is pretty steep. Probably going to cost more than I want for the capsules. I have a pair with bases and springs and a single capsule with no base but that should still work for you since you only need a replacement capsule for the single right. Sorry about giving you the wrong email.
