I’ve seen alot of complaints about people swapping for a JDM motor and having it burning oil. Isn’t this due to the fact that Japanese citizens can only keep there car for like less that 100k b/c of the strict emission laws, so people dont take care of their cars and set oil changes back to like 15k, drive there cars hard etc? Do most jdm motor sale stores due leak down tests, compression tests, etc??
I think some do but I would think the reason they burn oil is because they’ve been sitting for 10+ years and the gaskets are rotten and failing. People recommend giving the engine a tune-up and replacing all of the gaskets before running it to ensure long life.
i bought a jdm motor…no complaints about burning oil. only complaints are…that according to teg tips, the motor mounts should line up and be able to be used. mine didnt line up close. and that also according to teg tips the gray plugs harmness should of clipped right into the computer. they do but i cant use one single connection under the hood. everything and i mean everything has to be changed over which blows big time. i dont know if it was just my misinterpritation while reading teg tips or something was changed that i didnt know about or what. and right now its coming down to the point of selling the headache-mobile and buy something else that can do 11’s for 5grand (includes price of car to) i dont know just ranting cuz i havent been able to drive my integra for 3 months now
makes sense
Gaskets sitting for 10 yrs…that makes sense that there would be some defenite wear. When you say gaskets, ur talking all of them… like head gasket, oil pan, valve cover, valve seals? Turbo 1.8 hyrbid’s problems sound like a real pain, getting the motor, all the install work, and then you run into more problems. I think i am capable of swapping a motor, as far as the wrenching goes, but the tuning, seems to seem like you have to have some experience. Thanks for the input though, now my jdm myths have been settled a bit. Thankx.
