im new here and had gotten a 90 integra on the 30th of may and i found out that the headlights arent too sexy and id like to get new ones. but the biggest question in my mind is which one jdm or aftermarket?
this is where you guys come in, i havent much expirence on this DA. ive had a 87 integra and i still have a 90 crx.
does jdm head lamps require a different front end, cause i know the crx needs different radiator support, fenders, hood, and bumper
ive read some place that jdm headlights requires some sort of conversion
does anyone have aftermarket headlights here that seem to work without some sort of custom fab, cause i know some aftermarket stuff doesnt match up to well.
normaly i would just buy which ever is cheaper but i noticed that there about the same price. and id like to know someones opinion about the subject
yeah, get JDM 1pcs. they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than aftermarket ones. plus they are OEM equipment (just Japanese, not US) but yeah, from what i’m told, the wiring is pretty straightforward. there is a new set of aftermarket 1pc lights out there that doesn’t look too bad. just some complain about the light output being scattered and whatnot. also, some say that (as nice as they look, compared to the projector lights on ebay) these lights are ugly as well.
Well, opinions as to whether they look good or not aside, here are a couple of pics of an aftermarket set I had on mine:
The wiring matched up with the stock harness with the exception of the angel eye leds which have to be wired in manually to whatever you choose. No new front end or customizing was required. The fitment was good with the exception of the driver side assembly sticking out too much. Having found out the my Teg had an accident in its ancient past, I’m not sure if that problem is typical of the aftermarket set, or if it’s because the fender was not 100% in the right place. Hope that helps.
I’d go for JDM or stay stock (I like my 3 pcs). Those projectors have shitty lighting, for what I’ve heard. I’ve got Silverstars for headlights and PIAA yellow fogs right now and they light up great…
Ya with my experience of aftermarket ones I’d say stick to JDM…simply because they never light quite right. One side is always darker than the other, and the lights randomly go out for no reason…I’ve had two integras with aftermarket lights…one with halos and the other with black housing and now the one with black housing just had a fog light go out. And they’re brand new fog lights. I’ve taken both of my tegs to different people to fix the lights, and once they fix the lights they’re good for awhile and then they start having problems again…maybe its drawing too much power from the alternator?
I had my “rice lights” on my car for about 2 years and never had a problem with light output. The only thing I had issues with were the quality control of the construction. Some of the lights will have issues and some won’t, but you won’t be able to tell just by looking at them. I had 2 issues with my passenger light and my driver-side light was perfect (pass side light adjustment wouldn’t go as high as driver side and the glare guard fell off the low beam). If I were to build another g2 I’d probably get the 3-piece OEM lights painted (black housings) and paint the corner lenses amber. However, I can see the weight benifits in running the “rice lights” and I don’t think that they look too bad.
Well, there’s a million threads about who likes which, but since the question for this thread is now completely covered (do jdm or rice lights need fabrication or special wiring), I say…
Before this just turns into another jdm vs aftermarket debate thread…
I personally think the 3 peices look fine how they are. Yes JDM one peices are the best out of all 3, there light output is the best and you barely have any problems with them. But 3 peices are good for me.
i didnt mean to say real jdm, but if u go to ebay thats how they call it.
probably u just need to get a lil b more of information to catch up faster the next time.
