JDM Power Folding Mirror Wiring w/o oem relay

I’ve been long gone but still have the same G2 teg. When I installed my JDM mirrors, I searched thru the forum and no one really has a solution.

I modify my switch and also hook up to the alarm. So when the alarm arm the mirror fold in, disarm the mirror fold out. Also got the JDM button working. But you can’t have the mirror fold out if the alarm is armed.

The JDM mirror switch has an extra button at the corner which is a momentary, it give a +12v pulse to the JDM oem latching relay to control the mirror. I opened up the switch and change it to a push on push off pc mount button. Cut the trace on the board and made it a ground output. I drilled a little hole on the back of the switch to let that wire out instead of using factory harness. The wire is going to the radio shack DPDT relay. Add a diode by the relay there. Tap a wire from your starter kill wire (orange wire most of the time) and connect to the same pin of the relay. Add a diode b4 relay also.
That’s all you need for the switch. I’ve been using this set up for 1/2 year.

Also 1 more tip for you guys, to fix the right hand drive mirror problem, use a heat gun and heat up your usdm mirror and ply out the MIRROR GLASS and use it on the JDM mirror. They are same shape. Remember to heat up the mirror glass again after you put it into the JDM housing to make it glue on.

If you still dunno how to do it, you can mail me the switch and some $ for relay and shipping. I still have 2 more pc mount buttons. Then I can take some pic. I don’t really wanna take out my switch since I have modified my panel for an EDFC. NYC ppl can just come down and look for me at Sky Performance in Brooklyn.

Neil or admin, fix my english up above.

Hey there,
I don’ follow this tip. What do you mean?

nevermind, DNA. I figured out what you mean here after thinking about it more.
The mirrors are reversed on the JDM cars so the convex type mirror is on the L/H side for seeing blindspots easier.

humm… im going to have to put more of my brain power to think about how you did this…

but on the topic… do you know how to replace the motor for folding in the mirror?

Kevin,

Here is some more info, if you missed this thread. Perhaps the actual procedure for removal is not detailed, but it does have some good info.

Hey DNA,

how difficult is it to pull off the mirror glass?
and what type of adhesive is used to secure the USDM mirror glass after it was pulled off?

Thanks for any other advice on the subject.

Just heat up around the center of the mirror glass for 10-15 sec. stick a flat head between the mirror glass and the black plastic frame, work all around. You may need to heat up the mirror glass again. ply it out around the edge. Once done, you will see there is black glue behind the glass. DO the same to the USDM mirror. I didn’t add any adhesive, I heat the USDM mirror glass again when it’s in the JDM housing, so the black glue is melted and do the job again.

I should check again b4 I click on post.

here again

Just heat up mirror glass for 10-15 sec. You need to heat up the black frame a bit to make it soft. “Don’t over heat the plastic part”.
