Hey guys, I just got a 97-98 USDM type R shift knob. It is black leather with the red stitching. To match the knob, I want the JDM type R shift boot, black leather with the red stitching…
question #1: Does the boot fit our G2’s?
question #2: If so, will the ring on the boot fit around the clips on the shift knob I have (97-98 USDM type R shift knob)…? If any of you have this knob, you know that it has clips that stick out of the bottom of the knob to attach to the ring on the boot so the boot and knob don’t separate from one another…
ANY HELP would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks guys.
(BTW - I did a search and didn’t come up with anything.)
I have the JDM ITR shift boot in my car. You have to take the boot off of the DC ring and fit it to the DA ring. Take your time so you dont rip the boot trying to pull it over the little tabs on the ring. HTH

anyone have an answer for this?
USDM ITR knob has clips on the bottom and they dont feel like they fit the oem G2 boots, the collar on our boot is too thick & there are 3 knubs on the inside portion of the collar that would prevent the 2 tabs from fitting straight.
i emailed a seller on ebay regarding the JDM ITR boot and they said the collar is meant for the JDM knob, and that my USDM clips wont work on this boot. the picture also suggests the JDM ITR boot has a collar similiar to ours.
any confirmation on a shift boot that can accomadate the USDM ITR knob?
my friend suggested using the collar from a civic.
There is no modding required. You take out your stock boot, take the DC2 boot off of the bracket it comes on, put it on your stock DA bracket, and replace. Leave the ring on that comes with it, and it’s perfect. I’m serious, all you do is put it on your bracket like you would for any other boot.
And what do you mean about the knob having clips or whatever? That Sparco one I have there came with allen screws that you screw into the shifter itself, and also a bunch of fitting sleeves for the top of the knob so it will fit any car. Can you either describe the ITR knob better or post a pic? I don’t see how your shift boot affects your knob
