JDM XSi junk-yard find

Hello All!
Just wanted to start a thread to show my recent find, an imported XSi that I found for sale at a local junk-yard when I was there earlier this week. Here in Australia, we have a similar model to North America, basically an LS with a few minor differences - so the import XSi’s are quite rare.
It was a lucky find, I was there for something unrelated (can’t remember what is was now!), they have a row of cars for sale mostly crap that people just want to get rid of so they give them a few bucks for them and flip them. At first glance I thought it was an LS, but I thought I saw holes in the head-rests (our LS’s have solid ones), being a Honda nerd with an obsession for pre 92 models for many years now, there was no chance I wasn’t going to buy it for the $1599 asking price. The bonnet was pretty messed up with faded paint/dents and being a wrecker he said he would throw in a better condition bonnet and sell the car for $1500.
Anywho, it’s in decent shape and it runs really well. Issues with the car as it stands: the body has some clear coat peeling in places and some sun damage, the interior is dirty although pretty mint otherwise, the engine has a bad oil leak I think from the cam seal, needs a driver side axle, alignment it off, power antenna is stuck, needs a new tail light, tires are crap, exhaust has a slight rattle, ALB light is on, leaks water above the pedals and the windows are a little shaky when you close the doors.
So with my limited spare time (full time student + dad) I have my work cut out for me, I will try to get it as clean as possible and back on the road + do some minor mods along the way (suspension, wheels, possibly engine bolt ons).
I have always been in love with JDM cars, so I tried to capture all the unique elements of the Jap market car in the pictures - enjoy!

:open_mouth: … Congrats on the find. I’m very jealous. Why cant these appear in north america. Good luck with her!

WOW, what i find man. Whoever had this car last, ether had money to throw away, or didn’t know what they had.

Speechless!

That car in parts would cost more than you bought it for (US)!!!

Those front bumper moldings are interesting… new fad any one?

Keep those pictures alive, it’ll be a good reference later on.

OMG sooo jealous! what a great find!!

what a clean and rare find at a junk yard. Congrats it super clean and in great looking shape keep us updated on what goes on with your build of the car

congrats on the rare find, but that shyt is clean knowing that it was at a junkyard goodluck

WHAAAAT?! Despite the little problems here and there it really is a nice foundation to start with. Nice find man.

Yeah I imagine the last owner didn’t know it was any different than any other 20 year old car and being that it has a few problems was probably happy to get $500 for it.
I am stoked that I found it too. I was sceptical being that it was at a wrecker, but the guy let me take it for a drive and after the water leaked thru onto my right foot! it was all good - amazingly no smoke from the exhaust, tranny seems mint (no grinds at all) and clutch is very solid - think its heavy duty (very grabby).
I was going to caption the pics, but couldn’t be fudged last night. The gathers logo was loose near the spare tire, guessing it had the gathers audio but the previous owner changed it out for something more recent, pity. I actually love cassettes too! Also wanted to show the funny pics in the manuals.
Wanted to ask some of you teg lovers a ?, is it a factory option to have the white stitching on the shift boot? Seeing as the car has no other mods I’m thinking its a factory thing? Never seen it before.

Thanks for the comments so far!

wow congrats, sell me all those parts now lol jk keep that thing ALIVE!

lucky man! wish things like this would happen i the us! hahaaha. hey do you guys have the brake lights that light up integra out there?

you hit the jackpot, oh my god.

Damn nice find… It has all those nice rare parts every enthusiast here in the u.s wants lol. Good luck on ur build keep us updated.

Nah I’ve never seen those brake lights before…

What a deal, congrats on such an awsome find. ive always been curious and I know you could probably use some LHD components to fix misc. things but where do you guys source RHD specific things? (I.E. throttle cable, clutch cable, brake booster hose, ect ect ect…)

Good luck on bringing new life back into old girl

Our domestic integras are all RHD so any parts are available to us - for the XSi specific parts, not so easy to find.

Oh man, awesome find. Which wreckers did you get it from?
