john's Intergra build Pt:2

I can’t speak to the longevity yet, but it felt pretty good to get rid of my old bushings for ES ones. If you don’t mind unsolicited advice, I learned a couple things doing mine:

You can save around $50-70 IF you plan on getting aftermarket rear LCAs by buying ES bushing packs individually since the LCAs will come with bushings (won’t have to mess with pressing out those 6 bushings out too which is definitely a bonus). The boot ends that come with the kit are as useful as male nipples. Also, unless there is severe rotting on your steering rack bushings, you won’t notice a difference changing to the ES ones so you don’t need those either. I was pinching pennies pretty hard and the cheapest place I found to purchase all the bushings at is ultrarev.com, especially since they offer free shipping on orders of $50 or more. Hope that helps.

thanks for the info mercer…im checking out the ultra rev site right now. i wish i knew what my plan of attack was with the suspension, but thanks for planting the idea of individual kits rather than the master kit. i might have a lead on a set of skunk2 rear lower arms and a beaks lower bar. just waiting to hear back. my main concern is the rear trailing arm bushings…as they are absolute junk. i can get a pair of those for around 70. but as with the rest of the car, im just reading as much as i can before i buy anything.

also…anyone have a drivers side factory headlight? no fog or side needed just the headlight.
thanks

so i can finally start getting the motor bolted back to the tranny as the final parts are starting to arrive.

gripforce hd flywheel, pr plate, disk, throwout and pilot

decided to go with a genuine honda throwout spring

i am going to try to get the motor back in and get it drivable by the end of the week, just have to see what pans out.

on a side note this is the b18b that came in the 90, i am going to tear it down to be hot tanked, probably build it for nitrous or turbo or something…but thats way down the road.

tomorrow i will get the connecting rod bearing caps off and the mains off so i can see how the crank looks, looked like synthetic that came out of the pan and the windage tray and oil pickup looked really clean…but bearings wont lie to you like some fresh oil will.

ill get pictures of the motor install as soon as that gets moving.

got the motor in the 90 today. now just to finalize the routing of the engine bay, get the radiator in and the hoses ran. The valve cover is a spare off the other motor, as the chains did a pretty good job scraping them up, the good valve cover will be goin on after everything is ready to fire. The header is painted wrinkle ht, the same as the valve cover. well see how it holds up.

there is plenty more to do, I have every bracket painted ready to go on, also all the stainless flush hardware for the bay, the power steering and coolant overflow, factory airbox(k&n), and battery. and a ton of little things like painting the pressure hose bracket on the pump black.

I also installed the shifter bushing kit today and the shortthrow shifter and sandblasted and painted the linkage. i am going to start prepping the undercarraige for some rust removal/prevention hopefully try to reverse the northeast life this car has lived.

well got the motor buttoned up, started it and got it in time, the headers smoked for a little bit as the paint cured, other than that it runs mint, no leaks or any funny stuff going on. used syncromesh in the transmission and drove it around the block, felt really nice with the new clutch and fresh shifter bushings.

lots of detailing in the bay, and in general, still alot left to do, but the motors in and its runs really nice.

next up:

swapping all engine brackets
finding and polishing anything that needs it in the bay
install flush head bolts and washers
make a nice double ground for the valve cover
“push” slim fan
install horns
loom wiring
move battery to trunk
dash swap
remove int harness.

fall 2013 should be the season for tucking and shaving.

back to work on the teg, got all the front end wiring all set and also wired up a couple of relays so the front blinker become markers and also blink with the flashers.

replaced the windshield also

i still need a passenger fender…

going to add head rest post slides into the rear seats, should look something like this

got the headliner all in, and the pillar panels in. I pulled a mint front seat foam pad and side bolster fabric which I will be sewing into the factory drivers seat to maintain the stock insert pattern on the seat.

still to do next…

battery in trunk
passenger pillar handle
sunvisors
front upper control arms/camber ball joints
strut tower bars ft/rr
install e30 wheels
power telescoping antenna

I totally forgot about this thread but still patiently waiting to see the wheels all mounted up and finished on the car.

Any updates on this. I really looking forward to those BMW wheels
