JP Midnight Madness Motorswap

Well, JP finially got a motorswap done. We started saturday at 11:35pm and started the thing around 10 sunday morning. It was pretty cold so we had us a barrel fire going. Just JP, my brother Gregg and Me. It’s a USDM obd2 GSR in a 95 obd1 Hatch. We rewired the dizzy and added the wires nessacary for the obd2 system. JP now thinks he’s going to get an OBD1 ecu chipped to run the motor cuz OBD2 SUCKS!. There is way too many wires.

A delightful look at the different motors

A joyous 5am meeting around the barrel fire. We discussed many things, most of it being OBD2 wiring and how it could possibly have been that cold outside.

The B18C1 in place. If i remember correctly, it was about 6:30am when the last of the mounts were tightened.

The sun was finially shining. 3 cranks and she turned over, only to realize that someone never fully tightened the banjo nut on the filter, so gas came shooting out in all directions. Much fun.

All in all, the swap went down alright. The trouble came from the OBD1 to OBD2 conversion. I was trying to wire it off some real crappy pinouts that turned out to be really wrong. After finding a good one from a website that actually diagramed out the pinouts, we got the wiring finished and she is pretty quick. Still need to add some minor things, like o2 sensors since his CX had 1 wire o2’s and the OBD2’s use 4 wire heated ones.

wow…that came out of left field!

we’re both comin for you, brice… :owned:

EDIT: how come im not in any of the pictures? i stayed till 4am.

Oh yea. My bad, Kyle was there too. We didn’t that many pics till after he left. I always seem to forget about the camera.

nice

too bad its going in a civic(BOOOO)

You know the OBD II harness bolts straight the then OBD 1 harness on the EG right? I did that before on a DX and it rean perfectly fine. Just needed to add a few small things like knock sensor.

No we dident do any of that. We well gary converted the motor to OBD1 instead of OBD2 . he just took the CX harness and combined it to the GSR harness. and it all worked out good.

did that hatch come from ny??

no…it didnt.

JP woulda answered that…

BUT HE’S BANNED!!! HAHAHAHA. I guess he should have :rules:

Guess whos BACk

man that’s sweet cngrats where did you get the how to on the wiring?

we just used an ecu pinout that we found on some website that turned out to be completely wrong, so we got another one and rewired it.
When your car has wiring like this, you kinda learn a thing or two about doing it.
