Im kinda of new to the import scene so im still learning please bare with me…My question is i have a 91 GS and i wanted to do a complete b-16 engine swap. but then i was told that i would be better off just doing a LS VTEC conversion. The guy told me to just change the head and keep the bottom. what would i be better off doing to create more horsepower??
search the board…you’ll find your answers faster
LS/VTEC is using a B18A or B18B block and mating it with any of the DOHC VTEC head- the B16A. The principle is to use the larger displacement of the LS block (In the LS blocks, Honda increases displacement by using a larger crank and increasing stroke ) and mate it with the high end power of VTEC. With this combination you have the higher displacement block, LS, and the VTEC, which makes the greatest hp, but there are other facters of why it could be less reliable.

Doing it correctly does not just mean bolt the two together. There are certain things that need to be done so that it will be reliable. Do some research, the setup can be beneficial if done right.
