I just finished installing my clutch. The clutch feels fantastic. No problems along those lines. But here is the problem -
My steering now feels notchy, almost rubbery. Like the power steering has flat spots almost in it. Not complete flat spots, but there are definite feelings that the wheel is harder to turn. Also - it makes a weird squeek noise when I turn a corner. Not really when I’m standing still and turn the wheel, just when I’m in motion. Its not the tires squealing, and it sure as heck doesnt sound like a belt is slipping. I can’t figure it out! Did I torque something down to hard? Not torque something down enough? The squeek is definitely from the front… almost sounds like from the center of the car, but I can’t really pin point it. Please help! I’m afraid everytime I take a turn I’m damaging something, because it feels like it doesnt want to move! Please help me.
Possibly? I don’t really see how… But i suppose i could’ve… maybe trapped a hose in between the tranny and engine? hrm… that’d be the only spot really… ? I’ll have to check the hoses and fluid level. If the fluid level dropped at all, I have no clue why. I’ll check though. Thanks for the tip.
Well, obviously you had to pull the speedometer sensor from the transmission. This has power steering lines that go to it. If they are leaking fluid, you could have some problems. Also, make sure your radius rod is tight in the crossmember. Best of luck.
Thanks again for the replies. I’m gonna check the fluid level tommorow. Been so busy all day long, havent even had a chance to pop the hood. Oh well. I probably just drained some fluid off accidentally when I pulled the speedo sensor. A couple of the hoses popped off around there, and some oils drained off… and I put em back on… (2 of them popped off… and i put em back on… hopefully on the right connections… i think im figuring out what the problem is now… thanks though guys)
