Well, I made two passes, and it was anywhere from 80-85 degrees outside.
Everything done to my 91 RS is:
-stock B16a Xsi OBD0 motor
-CC 7.5lbs aluminum flywheel
-CC Stage II clutch (Whooptie doooo) LOL
-Flowmaster rear section exhaust kit
-P205/60R14 MasterCraft tires
First run:
2.415
6.645
10.119
70.73
13.099
15.640
88.45
Second run:
2.471
6.693
13.141
15.691
87.85
On the first run I left at 3000, and on the second run left at 2600. This car needs at least a 4.7 final gear set. A 4.9 final gear set would be more like it. It’s not the greatest, but it’s something. LOL The car could probably use some attention as far as driveability issues are concerned, because it does have a slight hesitation when cruising down the road. It has always had a slight hesitation when cruising on the highway, and i’m not sure how much this may have affected my 1/4 mile times. If it did affect my times, it would probably be only .05 seconds.
Overall, the car could use a set of CTR cams and a 4.7+ final gear set. If I had these items, I think I could go 15.1.
It could use a better 0-60’ time. That’s terrible.
work on your 60 footer…with practice, you can break into the low 15’s as is.
I just need to get it into that little window where all of the good sixy foot times are hanging out at. I think that if I can make it get a controlled tire spin with a pair of drag radials while leaving fairly aggressive, then I could go alot faster. I think that the one true thing that will hold me back from doing so is weight transfer to the rear. I need to get a set of “bump” adjustable struts so that I can keep the rear from “squating” soo much. I just think that the harder it hooks, the harder it will want to “squat” the rear of the car which causes a loss of controlled tire spin.
I would like to start experimenting with gearing options. I am limited to changing my tire diameter since there isn’t a company who makes a performance final gearset for the S1 B16a transmission. I would like to go to a 21 inch diameter wheel/tire combo, and eventually a 19.5-20 inch combination. My calipers are already really close with the OEM 14 inch steel wheels.
Overall, I need to work with the car a little, and I should be able to make some low 15 second passes.
I pulled off a 2.2 0-60’ time a few years ago on the stock clutch, Yokohama Parada Spec 2’s, and H&R Sports and Tokico Illuminas.
You just need to figure out how to drive your car.
^^^^^^^ I fully agree. I was only mentioning additional items that could make it even faster.
2.2 60ft is pretty damned good. Nice numbers man! What rpm was you launching at?
No idea. It was probably 3 years ago when I went to the drag strip.
I just came back today from the track.
Fastest time of 15.32 1/4 E.T.
Basic bolt ons DB1.
