Yeah for sure when I get this engine I plan on getting a brand new stage 1 or 2 clutch, I plan on replacing the headgasket with a mls gasket and definitely doing the water pump/timing belt. Maybe a few other things. Oh yeah … I wanna do arp head studs aswell. The internals I’ll keep stock because this car will never be boosted.
Bubbling could be compression leaking out with a blown hg either way doesn’t really matter if your tossing it in the trash. Cometic makes different thickness mls headgaskets. If you go thinner it’s a good idea to get adjustable cam gears to correct for timing due to the effective deck height change and tuning the ecu will obviously best take advantage of the gains.
I might look into a thinner hg but I might just go with oem thickness, I’m not too sure yet unless it’s a noticeable power gain with the thinner one. I’ll have to do some more research on that for sure though will let everyone know when I get this b20. I haven’t started pulling this motor out yet either, I’m going to wait until I have everything to do my swap so I can bang it out in a day.
