i haven’t been on this site since june but i though i would visit. I had a DA w/ a gsr motor and ran a best of 14.7 @ 94. search my threads and you will find it. i spent alot of money in mods for a “quick” car.
so i bought my rsx type-s last year due to being scared of my DA being stolen. kept it stock because it was decently quick as is, but recently bought a injen cai ($60) off clubrsx and the hondata reflash #4 w/ 8600 rev limit for ($530). so in all i spent less than $600 and my car is still carb legal and will pass smog. It has stock exhaust and header.
So i decided i would go to the track, well the worst track in California LACR.net , to test it out. It is at a heigh of 2,710 ft. and as you all know air is thinner at higher locations thus affecting performance. I also had my girlfriend in the car because she didn’t want to stand alone while i raced so that didn’t help either. Stock all season tires just made it worse, i lose traction in 1st and 2nd gear on the street and at the track it was even worse.
Onto the race:
I launched at 3k rpm and feathered the clutch but as soon as i released it completely i lost traction and spun my way to second which was tractionless as well and with major wheelhop. At around 7k rpm i caught traction and continued to shift to third at 8300 rpm with a long lasting chirp. Shifted to 4th with another chirp and crossed the finish line. I was racing an 04 subaru sti and lost by .9xx seconds. with a horrible take-off on my part.

my car is capable of low 14’s with a 2.1 60ft which is attainable with a $20 mod called ESSM aka motormounts to eliminate wheel hop that plagues the rsx.
with a race header i’ll be in the 13 sec. range with under $1k dollars of mods.
reflash (530) intake (60) RH (350)= $940 in mods for a 13 sec car…try that with a b-series motor.
There was an h22 prelude dynoing at 205 whp(according to him) he had i/h/e/cams …and he couldn’t keep up he was running close to 16’s up there.
I’m in srt-4 territory at lacr they run 14.8-15.2 times consitently
in conclusion i’m not bagging on b-series motors, but they are outdated and k-series has wayyyy more potential.
