dont worry man, DB2-R81 is the definitive answer to everything track cars and boy, does he let everyone know how much more he knows about track cars and racing practicality as often as he can.
he knows SO much, that when he assumes someone is practicing a bad habit, he MUST point it out and show how much more awesome he is than you are.
the dude is a nit-picky internet drama machine. i bet you could even have a dedicated track car built by a dedicated race car shop and he would still find a flaw in the design.
its called validation, some people dont get enough of it in their real lives, so they use the anonymity of the internet to condescend people to help validate themselves
this would not be the case if Mr R81 actually offered a solution to his gripes instead of just telling people how wrong they are all the time, and leaving it at that.
just because you have a car that you take to a race track doesnt make you the almighty answer to everything about track cars. just because youve spent more time and money than most practical people would on a 20 year old car doesnt make you the definitive voice on everything track cars.
as a matter of fact, it almost makes you out to be a huge tool, and only because of how much you talk down to people like they are morons.
not everyone has a car they can take to the track all the time, not everyone has the ability to spend a lot of time and money on said track car. not everyone is as experienced as others.
just because you think you know more about something than someone else doesnt give you the right to talk to them like they are beneath you.
i only get a few track days out of my current tire choice before i retire them to street tires anyway. it doesnt matter at anything but 10/10ths and you cant do that all the time on the street. sorry man, care to try another, my canadian neighbor?
go fuck a moose and stop shitting on peoples threads, youre prolly the reason why that other canadian with the turbo H22 stopped updating here. im done, sorry abs-lsd
the one that doesnt drive like a truck motor.
the one that comes with a transmission, ECU, all sensors, cables, and wire harness.
the one that can safely rev to 8k without internal upgrades.
the one that has been proven to be a potent, reliable high strung motor.
in other words, not the cheap one because it wont be cheap once its finally in your car, and then its just a POS accord motor once you do. why not spend the money up front so you dont have to scramble to spend it later, and on shit you didnt want in the first place.
If you think about it a K20A vs K24A you’ll gain much more potential power reason being you’ll be able to upgrade the K24A to have a higher power ratio than a K20A then whatever you want to put ontop of the K20A budget plan would probably yield out a 1000hp monster motor that can beat everybody on the track and on the streets.
i dont think you are interpreting “track car” the same way abs-lsd does. this car is not a drag strip car. it might make a few drag strip passes, but this is a road course kinda car. high horsepower isnt really the name of the game more than a well balanced Vehicular Package is. anyone can drive any fast car in a straight line. its the cars that can turn and stop that are more fun anyway.
the K24 that Hmotors has for 800 dollars is just the longblock, everything has been stripped off.
1: good luck finding a cheap, used manual K24 ECU (and all of the other shit that the K20 swap comes with that you would need to find for a K24)
2: the K24 from the Accord uses a different type of i-VTEC than the K20 and the K24 from the TSX (hence why you cant use the K20 ECU), it only operates on the intake camshaft and is only used for better fuel economy. the lobes are less aggressive, the fuel and timing maps are made for efficiency and not power. the combustion chamber design is more for maximum fuel burn than all out performance. i could go on and on about just this one reason, but it would be a fucking novel.
3: the 4.7 final drive JDM trans with the low redline and terrible factory ECU of the K24 make for a horrible combination, ive driven one before. 4th gear was like coaxing a donkey across hot coals… in a gutted CRX
4: the only “potential” power difference between the K20 and K24 is in the TSX model K24, it has the same head design and i-VTEC system as the K20 does, and thats only in stock form. once you get building the internals, you would notice that the K24 block is simply a larger bore K20 block casting.
ive helped put together four K setups for some local guys and so far, the only one that used a K24 from an Accord is wishing that he had sprung for the K20. the guy with a TSX K24 isnt as slow but has a USDM RSX 5 speed.
IMO, the K20 is a perfect swap for someone like abs-lsd. the car will be reliable and fast using all OEM internals and getting nearly (or above) 200whp. thats the same power/weight ratio as a C6 corvette, or 3rd gen viper, better than the new Mustang GT and its all done on a lighter chassis so itll be more responsive, stop shorter, carry less momentum etc etc.
there is an old saying with cars;
Fast, Cheap, Reliable.
pick two.
fast and cheap wont be reliable
reliable and fast wont be cheap
cheap and reliable wont be fast.
The reason why I got a billion dollars is because RaM the former member of G2IC is a Kenside Wah-Ching member of Los Angeles County. He originally from Orange County but you have to really know the guy.
He push down a royal rumble that got everybody a good beat down. If you want to live and I know you are watching Neil we’ll go to Florida where you lived. I’ll personally take you out myself on the boardwalk.
i bought my obd0 to obd1 jumper harness from ry-wire on a integra that i did a ls-vtec swap and then sold the jumper and the guy that has it in his crx is still going with no problems after 5 years…
Nice car! I was a bit surprised though actually…usually at hpde events they never let a passanger hold anything in their hands due to safety reasons - your camera has to be mounted. Also, usually there’s no passing on the first lap because its just a warm up lap for you and your car. Look forward to seeing where this car goes.
Hey redteg i noticed you from around here. I have some Skunkworks coilovers on stock shocks I don`t need. You know anybody who can use a set?
nope sorry man
