does anyone have the kamikaze headers. They say that they make 4 to 5 more horsepower than the dc headers. I found them at importparts.com for 245 and was wondering if i should go with these or if i should buy the dc/greddy headers.
Everybody over at Endyn used to say that kamikaze is the best header for a supercharged motor if thats true then if you are going N/A it will be to big.
good question
What is a good header to buy ? One that is durable yet puts out the power. Is Ceramic not the way to go anymore? Now Chrome or what?
Kamikaze 4 to 1 headers are a good header if your engine has A LOT done to it or is supercharged. If you only mildly modify your engine you might lose HP. I also am looking into buying a header and from the dyno I saw the 4 to 1 on 91 LS motor with only an intake and exhaust, it actually lost 5 high end HP. With a 4-2-1 you will gain a lot more mid HP while 4-1 you will only gain high end HP. So unless your goin to put a lot of money under the hood and dc or greedy 4-2-1 would be the best.
Kamikaze headers are normally now only coming in nickel platted or ceramic. Nickel platting is very strong and will last a lot longer than ceramic but nickel platting has a tendency to discolor to blue because of the heat. Ceramic is better for heat displacement, they keep cooler but have a tendency to wear out faster. Its really up to you and how you drive your car. If your redlining your car all the time you might want to stay away from ceramic because that will wear it out a lot more, but if your goin more for looks under the hood, ceramic would be the way to go then. Chrome is a lot like nickel platted but is a lot more attractive. Its strong but it wont last as along as nickel platting. I have decided that I am gonna go with a ceramic header, 4-2-1. I have a 90 LS, I want to but im not going to do a whole lot under the hood. But I have heard good reviews for the greddy, DC and neuospeed headers.
