I’ve recently done a swap and pulled the complete AC system out of the car… The only thing left is the condensor fan. Should I keep it and wire it to come on when the Radiator Fan kicks on? Or is it really not worth it? Is the stock setup sufficient enough to the point where its a waste of my time to try and improve on it? Or is it worth hooking it up?
I would ditch it. It didn’t come on cars which did not come w/ AC, so that’s proof it’s not needed.
When I first took my AC out I ran the stock radiator with the stock radiator fan - never had any cooling issues associated with the fan. Daily driving, 100+ summer days… no issues at all.
Now I’m running a slimfan in it’s place, but haven’t put enough abuse into it yet to know for sure. But so far 20 minute track sessions in 90+ degree heat seem to be fine (although the fans don’t do anything at speed) as well as driving around town.
I have the same situation as unified112. If i decide to keep it how should I wire it up to come on when the radiator fan comes on? Also, would it continue to come on when I turn the ac switch on even though the ac components have been removed? The wiring is still all there. Hopefully those subscribed to this older post can shed some light for me. Thx in advance
you would just need to move the wires to the radiator fan plug then they will come on together. i dont know what triggers the fan to come on in the ac system but if you turn the ac on, without any of the components, then youre just blowing hot air into the cabin. there would be no logical reason to use the ac controls after removing the ac components… unless you unplug/remove the blower motor. unless youre doing some race car stuff anyway, you dont need a second fan.
