Keeping the element of Surprise

I am an OEM kind of guy. I like to keep people wondering “How did I loose”, “He doesn’t have any bolt ons”. I have had several Honda’s through out the years. But this is my first Integra. I have modified the stock intake box and now want to replace the intake manifold. I have a 90’ B18A1. So, what would yield the best gains from an OEM IM? I’ve been told that going to the B18B1 IM and TB would give me a very small gain. But was wondering if there would be anything else that would improve my efforts even more.

If you wanted to appear stock, how about port matching the manifold, and having it Extrude Honed.

An aftermarket manifold would be the best value, but if you’re adamant to appear stock, Extrude Hone should give you the biggest gains in flow.

What about starting with a JDM throttle body and intake manifold and then having it port matched??? If so, what would I look for?

I remember back in the days before Skunk manifolds, someone successfully installed a B18C5 manifold on an LS, but can’t remember the details/ mods needed.

How built is the motor? There may not even be a need for a better flowing manifold yet.

Well it’s not “built” yet. I do plan on using B16A pistons and Crower 403’s with titanium springs and retainers. But that’s about all I plan on doing to the internals.

If that’s all you plan on doing, then a bored stock throttle body and a good port matching on the intake manifold is all you’ll really need, or at least benefit from.

Something more beneficial to you would be a short geared transmission with LSD.

Oh yeah! I’m looking for a S1/J1 and I was really wanting to get LSD. The tranny I want has the same gear ratio for 1st through 3rd as a ITR.
