I am looking to install keyless entry into the old GS (since we’re getting MAJORLY sick of having to use the keys… especially since our 05 RL unlocks when we walk towards it).
What’s the best system out there that is easy (and i mean EASY) to install and is also affordable? (ie: $50 or so).
We’re also looking to replace the (stock) radio for a somewhat more modern (hehe) system with CD play and such… anything i need to pay attention to? (wiring, etc)
It’s a GS, so are there power door locks now? If so there are a number of key less entry systems out there, also the most basic alarm will have door lock outputs. Keyless entry, many under $50 and alarms, many under $100, check at your local car audio shops and/or car parts stores.
As for aftermarket HUs, you will need a mounting kit and a wiring harness adpt., kit takes the place of the oem HU and pocket, [Metra makes the best one for an Acura] the adpt. harness plugs into the oem radio harness plug, [again Metra makes one, but they are all about the same] you can even get, [for some A/M HUs] a “smart harness” Acura plug at one end and what ever brand HU plug on the other end, [plug and play] and if you can turn a screw, and want to try the install yourself, this will help. http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Acura/Integra.html 94
Yeah, the doors are already power (making things easier). I was thinking of the Crimestopper keyless entry system personally… but the wiring is kind of daunting
The wiring is easy on that unit, if you just want key less, you don’t need most of the wires.
Connect the red wire to the constant power free pin on your incar fuse box
Connect the yellow wire to the black/yellow ign. wire, in the ign.switch harness.
Connect the black to ground.
On the door lock harness…
Connect the violet and violet/black to ground
Connect the green/black to the cars green/white lock wire.
Connect the blue/black to the cars green/red unlock wire.
Both the lock and unlock wires can be found behind the drivers kick panel, in harness coming from the door.
Connect the white, [light flash] wire to the park light free pin on the fuse box.
DONE. remove all the other wires from the “brain” if there are other things you want to hook up, just ask. 94
For reliability at a really low price, check out Prestige alarms. I used to install them at the shop I worked at for 3 years, and we NEVER got a defective one.
I don’t have any experience with Crime Stopper though.
