i did a search on connecting rods and it didn’t help much.
ever one seem to have had the same problem when the connecting rod went, it came throught the block. mine didn’t.
it sound ok at idle, but over about 2000rpm it start to knock very bad!! if i pull the plug wire off the sound almost goes away.
i was told if i pull the oil pan off that i would be able to see if was the connectiong rods, is this true?
sorry if this has been cover before but i couln’t find it
Pull the oil pan. Grab the end of the rod and move it to find play. If it does, DO NOT DRIVE IT. go to autohell and get some new bearings. Slap them in, it will get you around for a little while till you can rebuild…otherwise…rrrrrrrr-boom:bang:
well i tryed to remove the oil pan today, that was not as easy as i thought it was going to be!
reading the haynes manual it says to remove the exaust pipe and then 19 or 20 bolt in the oil pan then take it off.
well i got all the bolt except 2. there are 2 being covered by a plate that is fastened to the transmission. :bawl: i can’t remove this from where i am becasue i can’t jack the car up that high.
What is this little plate that the manual does not think then need to mention.
:bawl: :bawl: :bawl: :bawl: i want my car back
:bang:
its the flywheel cover only held on by 4 bolts and the 2 engine stiffeners…just take them off and you are set…One stifferner has 2 bolts going into the block and one to the tranny…and the other one has one in the block and one in the tranny
