KYB Gr-2s or TOkico BLues

Who has had experience with either of these shocks? I’m lookin for inexpensive ones so i dont need adjustable ones so im thinkin either KYB gr-2s or some Tokico BLues, my ride hite will be about 2 inches lower then stocks so im lookin for a decent ride…

Well, I’m unfortunate to have Tokicos up front and KYB at the rears when I had my Teg. The KYB felt stiffer. However, the KYB did not come with any bump stops. The Tokico blues were more properly equipped. Not really an end of the world thing. Just don’t hack your existing shock when getting it out so you can use existing parts.

so you think that kybs are a better stiff ride?

I have KYB GR2 in the rear… It’s more stiffer. I’m planning to change my front. But, I wait till my stock shock go bad. :stuck_out_tongue:

RaM well ill be on stocks wit my new coils (yep MaxSpeeds liek u wanted me to get) but i needa know wich ones to get for the time they either blwo or i need new ones if i werent so dam broke id get some illimuinas or yellows but i am

:frowning:

tokico blues will work well with a “sport” type of drop, but anything lower kinda makes the ride uncomfortably bouncy. i didn’t like that on my race springs, so i opted for the koni yellows.

Yes, I believe they are stiffer. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be better for your drop, or it will last longer than Tokico. As for prices, I’m pretty sure the GR2 is cheaper than the Blues.

If I were to do it again, I’d have Tokicos all around. But then again, I was only dropped 1.5" with Suspension Techniques springs.

BTW, both offer an awesome ride compared to stock. Either one is a worthy upgrade from OEM. Which one is really better? I’ll leave that to personal perference.

i have gr2s all around with eibach sportlines. the ride is like stock. What makes a big difference is the type of tires you have. michelin xgtv4 in 195/55/15 are freakin noisy as hell. toyo proxes h4 in comparison are super quiet in 195/60/15.

Just wait. Are you sure that you are not going to want something a little more aggressive? Can you see yourself getting more involved in autoxing etc.? If so, save up for some Koni Yellows, or even more aggressive options. If not, Tokico Blues with H&R Sports are pretty stiff without sacrificing your ride.

i got kyb gr2 all around with H&R sport drop (1.8) and it ride almost like stock but not as good as koni yellows tho…

go with adjustables for the front, youll never look back =P

will it make that much of a diff if the fornt is adjsutable if tha back isnt?

I have gr2’s and skunk2’s I like the setup but I would get adjustable up front if I wanted to handle better if I were you

I agree… Like what XDEep said… adjustable up in front. XDEep drives like a maniac I was in his car last time. :stuck_out_tongue:

so some adjs upfront and gr-2s at back will be satasfactory?

I would get adjustable shocks in the rear. With rear adjustablity you can affect the handling characteristics somewhat by inducing more oversteer with a stiffer rear. I would also keep the same brand front and rear.

Can someone tell me whats the best thing i can get compareable to koni yellows but spend less then 500? adjustables i guess but wat illuminas?

you can get yellows for $550 if you look around, which will be better then kyb agx’s-which are under $500

I know that konis are aroudn 550 and i know they are better and i know that i dont have 550 so i need somethin comparable for less…

Just save your money for a bit. There’s no point in buying somthing for $500 just because you’re impatient.

Why the hurry? Have you decided what springs you want?
