KYB GR2's

What is the recommanded drop? I know the Tokico Blues are 1 inch. What are the GR2’s? Thanks

From what I have read and heard, the GR2’s are basically a stock replacement. They are not made for the spring rates of ‘Race’ type springs. If you wanna drop it, don’t go with the GR2’s. I know the GR2’s are cheap compared to for example Koni Yellows, but they are not the right spring to use for dropping your car.

KYB says no more than 1.5 inches on the GR2’s.

I’m running about that much of a drop on them, myself. They ride fine, and it’s been about 6 months.

My 4DR, is lowered about 2.5" if not more with KYB GR2’s… been this way for about 1000Miles maybe more, No problems with them yet

When I bought my second Teg last year, the guy had already put in H&R Sport springs with GR2’s. So far I have no compaints… they seem to be holding up just fine.

I have GR2’s with Neuspeed Sport springs (1.8"). Had them for about 2 years without any problems.

im running GR2s with eibach sportlines for the last 2 years and our roads are full of potholes, and they are still great.

for the money you cant beat them, and they have a lifetime waranty that covers drops down to 1.8 inches. ie. eibach sportlines and neuspeeds. so if they blow… free replacements.

If you are running coilovers or anything more than a 1.8 inch drop then look at the other brands listed.

Saint, Where did you get yours at? With the lifetime warranty?

lifetime manufacturer waranty. i got the documents with the shocks. My shop just told me to let them know if one blows and they will put in for the replacement. When I got mine… i did a lot of research on here, and all the feedback was very positive. its only been the last year since people started trying to say that the shock is only a stock replacement.

As far as i know… and i dont buy anything for my car without extensive research, the KYB-GR2s are a BETTER than stock replacement if you are lowering your car less than 2 inches.

see the problem is… once you go PAST 2 inches, the shock needs to be customized to accomodate the different lengths of travel due to the shortened ride height. thus someone saying that a GR2 is not good enough for their 2.5 inch drop is correct… but only because they are not reading the specs that the KYB-GR2s were made for.

TO be honest… im gettin a lil annoyed by all the smack talk about KYBs being an inferior product… this isnt directed at anyone in particular… but all these posts knocking them, all seem to be comparing them to a more costly product that was specifically designed for a bigger drop.

Bottom line… if you are going with a less than 2 inch drop with no plans to go more… KYBs are a great choice.
