Leaking from compressor -- is it dead?

I noticed my compressor wasn’t turning on when I tried to run the air conditioning since this winter. Crap, a leak! So I filled it up with refrigerant. Took a little more than I thought, but it blew cold. Turned the car off, and about 2 minutes later, I hear hissing. Loud hissing. I check the compressor and there are bubbles coming out of the top part of it. The refrigerant is leaking out. I’m also hearing it leaking out of the high pressure port (days later). Is this compressor dead or can I attempt to use an refrigerant with a leak sealer?

I don’t think leak sealer is good but maybe you can replace the gaskets. It looks like there is/was a replaceable seal at the top of the compressor housing. I am going to get a new compressor and go through my whole system this year and replace all the rings and gaskets. The ol teggy is going to get AC again damn it!

Yeah that’d mean removing the compressor. Not sure if I have time for that unfortunately. Will need to look into that.

What ever you do, don’t use the leak sealer! It will end up causing more harm than good.
