leaking transmission oil NEED HELP!

awhile back i did a transmission/oil change as well as replaced both right and left axle.
afterwards the car drove great. but i noticed that there were oil where my right axle enters the tranny and around the fill and drain bolt. i thought it was just the mess i made changing the oil. but time went by and i kept seeing new oil spot on the driveway. just a few days ago i found it difficult switching into all gears. little did i know i had no oil left. i thought i’d just top it off with the remaining oil that i had left and like magic i could change gears, no problem. i figured it was that and after doing some looking around here in g2ic and other place it turned out to be a really easy job.

so today i jacked up the car took of what i needed to remove the axle. then when i got in i tried looking for it but coulding find the seal. but i did see that the rubber piece in there was broken a little. the noob that i am took a screw driver and tried prying it out hoping it was the axle seal.

now i have a big big problem on my hand. i have no idea how to get the transmission seal out. it’s a nightmare. from the looks of it i’d have to take the entire tranny out to get to it.

please help i am lost. a 10 dollar job could just have turned into a hundred dollar job if not more. if anyone needs a pic of it i can try and find one if they think it’ll help. but the only pics i have right now is just the trannsmission seal that i bought.

thanks for looking.

i found an old thread but i dont know if it works

The tranny doesn’t need to come out to replace axle seals… but they can be a pain to get out. Basically use a screwdriver to pry it out, though a seal-puller would help a lot here.

Then use a seal-driver, or a socket that is the right size, to drive the new seal in. They’re inconvenient to replace, but really are not that hard.

sorry if i my explaination was confusing, but i needed help with the transmission seal, i think that’s wat its called. it’s the seal where the axle seal goes on. that seal i have 2 picture of top and bottom. i know for a fact that i gotta take out the tranny. but i don’t know how, well the best way or which parts to take off the remove and install the new seal.

i understand that replacing an axle seal is fairly easy and it should only take me 40-60min at most. so thanks guys for the replies. i hope u guys understand what i mean.
