Has anyone had their gauges not light up after installing LEDs?
On my 91 teg, i replaced some of the bulbs with LEDs. The bulbs i didn’t replace (warning lights) still work. The LEDs i put in climate controls work as well. But the LEDs i put in to light my gauges aren’t lighting up at all.
I tried reversing some of them to make sure they were put in right. I made sure all the connections were secure (except for putting the speedo back). I made sure all the lights are seated properly, and even double checked the fuse, all seems to be fine. Racking my brain and just dont know whatsup with it. Anyone have ideas? It’s my DD, so i gotta get it back and running!
i did this a while back to my teg and at first after i put everything back together they wouldn’t light up. and i could not figure out the reason. but in the end i figured out that it was the light dimmer switch. i took it apart and re soldered some connections. hope this helps
i did the led swap, and i had a bulb flicker on and off. It was bad i just replaced it . Put your bulbs in a socket that works and check them. good luck
I checked all the LEDs and they’re good. I have my dimmer switch hooked up and it is still fine. I got a new gauge cluster and found the problem.
Put in both 194 LEDs, worked fine. Once I put in the 74 LED towards the bottom, a small strip of wiring on the circuit burned out. Check out the photos below, does anyone know why this is happening? I used SuperStar 1LED from AutoLumination, and in the detailed specs it says 12-14volts, 10milliamp and .12 watts. I wish I knew more about electronics, and how I can fix this.
From the simple V = IR equation, your 74 bulb should have a resistance of about 1300 ohms. Find the resistance of your original bulbs and see if they are less than this, since the current flowing through the originals should be considered the max for the circuit.
