eh I got all the ID movies and the first few stage 4 ones. they go through left foot braking in the race against the 92-95 civic hatchback SIR in taht gumtape? deathmatch race.
Thought left foot braking is used primarily in turns to not upset weight transfer…
Maybe you’re thinking of heel-toe downshifting? That’s used not to upset the balance in a corner, but typically left-foot braking is used to swing the rear out or as Oz mentioned, reduce turbo lag.
Hey i might sound like a loser but wasnt it the ducktape deathmatch! lol
no its gum tape
Left foot braking is a very useful racing technique. Almost all formula car drivers left foot brake unless use of the clutch is required beyond the start. I race shifter karts and we of course left foot brake…which also helps develop that left foot sensitivity needed to truly find the limit of threshold braking and it also aids in the transition to formula cars. I’m hoping to make the transition into cars this coming season if I can find the funding needed. Neil asked about F1 drivers and left foot braking…yes most of them do including Michael Schumaker…some still use right foot braking (Rubens Barichello) but the car will travel much smoother through the corner using your left foot …plus you don’t have to waste any precious time making the transition from one pedal to the next. When performing this technique while racing it’s imperative to not ride both pedals and overheat your brakes. I for one always left foot brake in an automatic and left foot brake my manual teg when I don’t need to downshift for a corner. With the manual I tend to switch back and forth…heel/toe for downshifts and left foot for standard braking. If you are autocrossing …again…it’s a very useful technique but you need to develop that sensitive left foot. The average person off the street will jab the pedal violently with their left foot and upset the car dramatically. The best race car drivers drive with their feet…anyone can point the wheel in the right direction…but footwork is what creates raw speed. imho

So was there already a kart racer registered here, is that why you are kart racer2? lol
