Legend Brake Upgrade

if anyone know where to get a set of Legend front hook me up. Napa doesnt have them and im not sure if i can get them from autozone.

Well here’s the deal with Napa, Kragen, & Autozone caipers (as well as other auto parts stores). They are aftermarket calipers, not OEM. I’d rather stick to getting an oem set and rebuilding them if needed, definately re lube the pins.

I might be able to locate another set. I’ll let you know later today.

if you can’t locate a set, let me know. i might have a spot i can look that has proved fruitful in the past.

well i called a few placed…noone has any around here. NAPAs were ramanned so i assumed they were the remanned Nissin calipers. I def want the Nissin.

Armed Ferret-if you can find them thatd be great, we can just take care of that and the rotors at the same time.
then i just need to grab me some SS lines and all is well.

well, i personally wouldn’t be sending them to you, i’ll just give you the contact info.

i’ll make a few calls on wednesday and be in touch via email.

alright man cool

Since my brakes are starting take a shit I think Im going to do this.

Also, to clearify you’ll need the calipers from a 94-95 Legend GS, these were only 2 years offered in GS model (per acuraautomotiveparts.org)

Any other helpful hints?

I got another set of the legend 94-95 dual piston calipers available. Email me if anyone’s interested. Email addy in profile.

email sent, reply w/pics

Sorry I don’t have any pics. I don’t have them in my possesion. I can go pick them up and ship them to who ever wants to buy them. They want $200. Plus whatever it cost for me to ship them to the buyer. I don’t know what’s a good price to pay for them. As thats what I just paid for my set through someone else and they are getting shipped to me. I just happened to find these right after I bought mine. They are the calipers with the brackets, no pads.

ArmedFerret,
What were you finding them for?

whitey–email sent.

word Mr. ferret i got your email. as well as JDM1int2b’s. im waiting on that place you referred me to to getback to me with a price. i really need these fuckin calipers.

Found some info about having the smaller piston in the front (or first on the force)

"The Brembo front calliper is a four-piston fixed calliper design with twin pistons on each side of the calliper, each pair dedicated to a pad. This advanced design features a smaller 40mm piston diameter at the front of the calliper to reduce the force on the leading edge of the brake pad. A 44mm piston in the rear of the calliper then exerts extra force on the pad to compensate for the tendency of the pad’s leading edge to bite into the rotor. This radically improves brake life and performance. "

So you’ll want to mount them with the smaller piston in line first.

Well 4sd4dr said he wants them. I gave the guy my cc to buy them so he didn’t sell them. I’ll go pick them up probably late this week or weekend and get you the pics.

let me know when you get them, ok?

If any of you guys want to ship a set up to Canada, I’d be interested. I’m having a lot of trouble locating a set. Email me if you have some calipers and brackets you want to unload, matteakin(at)shaw(dot)ca

4sd4dr,
Well my friend was in the area and I asked him to stop by and pick them up. He went by there and they are the single piston. After telling them 3-4 times that they need to be 94-94 Legend GS 4dr, dual piston. They said yes every time. Oh well. Sorry about that.

no worries man.

Instead of shaving down the mounting portion of the bracket, couldn’t you just shave the inner portion of the bracket, to prevent making contact with the rotor and inner surface of the brackets? wouldn’t this solve the issue of being afraid of grinding too much or too little and uneven pad/rotor wear?

i believe that is covered earlier in the thread.
