Let's talk about 11" brake rotors

anyone care to talk more about using itr/prelude/legend calipers on our cars? Do they bolt right on? Also, what rotors do you order? obviously not itr, prelude, or legend ones because their lug patterns are different. [/B]

Correct, they are redrilled to the best of my knowledge.

How big are f & r stock rotors on out cars?

I see the front rotors for $75, so thats $150 for the front. But you need to use newer accord calipers, which i’m guessing are expensive since they are new.

and everything else i saw was a good deal more expensive than $300. [/B]

I agree Colin. That site is a confusing. What’s this one here? http://www.fastbrakes.com/pages/kits/bigfront.htm

Is the complete kit w/ calipers 374 for this one? Will this kit only work for 1986-1989 integras? That sucks.

I’m thinking more seriously about sticking w/ some Brembo rotors on all 4 corners, SS lines, & nice pads. Simple, cheap, straight forward. I can still use my 14" wheels.

Leif

Leif on that link you just posted you would use your existing calipers and the mounting brackets will allow you to use the 11’'rotors.

So you would pay 274.00

Yes, you use the redrilled 11" rotors($75 each) and they also sell itr/accord calipers. I was gonna get that kit but too bad it doesn’t clear 14" wheels. Give fastbrakes a call or email for more details.

rebuilt calipers are about $75 each with no core at pepboys or autozone… Give your LS calipers as core and you get the calipers for $40 each.

ITR,legend(5 lug),accordwagon, prelude etc are all the same. I’ve bought legend calipers as cheap $13 each pick-your-part

93- legend coupes and 94-sedans have dual pistons similar to NSX calipers and will also fit.

No brackets are needed, just gridn don the caliper about 2mm.

This is the best upgrade for $ I’ve done to my car.

I’m wavering on this mod. Part of me wants to go for broke and get these damn 11" rotors. The other part of me realizes my snow tires are on 14" rims! I’d have to sell em and get some 15"s:(

Leif

I went for broke and am getting the willwood kit
after looking at amerikans breaks i could not pass them up

I guess 11" rotors w/ stock calipers isn’t really “going for broke.” My fault:(

The Wildwood kit is so nice but isn’t practical for me. I live in seattle and all:)

What size rotors does the Wildwood kit use?

Thanks,

Leif

I am not sure cause i have not picked mine up yet…
but Amerikan should know… where is he at

Marc has a set of Wilwood and his barely or should I say doesn’t fit into Max’s 16s. So go figure :stuck_out_tongue: It should fit in your fine Leif. But I think ITR calipers provide enough stopping power already, so you should go for those.

mmmm

cant wait

So I can go to autozone/pepboys, order a pair of 93-94 legend 2-piston calipers and use my ls calipers as a core? sounds too easy.

Can u tell us more about what you did. Like what rotors you used and where you grind the caliper?

If you get a set of those wilwood brake kiet, please let me know how much it costs you?? Thanx.

I’ve heard seattle weather isn’t too friendly on wildwood type calipers. Plus I’m gonna need to roll on 15" snow tires in the winter.

Is marc only going to put his on for auto-x only? Doesn’t he have a bunch of sets of 15" wheels? That would sort of render all of them useless! Maybe he’ll sell me a set:)

Leif

Marc pretty much stated they weren’t too practical for a daily driver. Since they were meant for track use and need to be rebuilt often.

I think I’m gonna get this for the front. http://www.aempower.com/rotor.htm

The fastbrakes.com guy emailed me back today and he didn’t answer any of my questions. They might have superior stuff but the guy pissed me off.

I think the AEM kit will be pretty tight. I’m going to buy one for my front. Maybe one day I’ll get one for the rear too just for fun although it prob isn’t neccesary.

Then I’ll add my SS lines and I think I’ll have a pretty fat brake set-up.

Anyone want to buy my stock 14" wheels? Nice tires, real cheap.

Leif

Leif,
Cross-drilled/slotted rotors doesn’t improve any braking. Just letting you know. I emailed Brian a few times he seems like a pretty good guy. If you want better braking, the cheapest solution would be brembo oem rotors and some good brake pads.

In some cases I understand slotted/drilled may diminish braking. But they look so damn cool!

Leif

If you found out Leif, or to anyone else with AEM rotors or who knows: can anyone please tell me what the minimum inside rim diameter is required to clear the AEM rotor/OEM caliper combo?

Thanks very much in advance.
