- light bulb applications help -

well, since the teg is old…it’s time to start replacing some of the bulbs around the car.

can someone please post up all or as many of the light bulb applications on the car (ex: dome light, etc).

thanks!!

headlight: 9004
fog light: 55w h3 (the wattage is very important here, i melted my lenses)
corner lenses: 168 or 194, 2 per side. both numbers are same bulb, just vary in wattage. either works fine
front bumper turn signals: 1156

not sure about the rear of the car

map lights: 3022
dome light: 3022
trunk light: 3022
glove box: 3022 i think

for reference you can check sylvania.com but some of their information was wrong on our car. eg: it said the map lights were 168s

HTH

thanks

Habitforming: aren’t the stock foglights 35W? isn’t 55W a little too much for the plastic housings? (danger for melting them?)

I know I’ve run into some bulb app errors on my 93 ls. Everything from the store computer and teg manual was giving the wrong app for the high mount stop. Finally figured on using app for 94 model and it fit. As far as the fog lights, I really do think a higher wattage will melt the housing. I have my fogs wired as teg tips to on their independent switch which I always run like day runners. When I was setting the timing the lights had been on maybe ten minutes and already the lens surface was very hot to the touch. Anybody know why my corner (not blinking) lights are so dim and yellowish in color?

Answer: come to think of it you might be right. i was thinking stock was 55watt and i had 85 watt bulbs in that melted the housings. but it might be 35 watt and i have 55, lemme check real quick…

and you were right, stock is 35 watt. so whatever you do, don’t get 55watt!!!

headlights:9004 45/65watts low/high beam
corner light: 194 bulbs 5watts
front turn signal: 1156 21watts
fog lights:h3 35 or 55watts
rear side marker:194 5watts
brake lights: 1157 5/21 watts parking/brake
rear turn signal(90-91): 1157 21watts
rear turn signal(92-93):1156 21 watts

the rear turn signal bulb is different for 90-91 and 92-93. i know cuz i had the 90-91 tail lights and the signals took 1157 bulbs and when i switched over to 92-93 tail lights, it took 1156 bulbs.

ARCHIVETHIS

I’ve been running 55W on my USDM lights as well as the 1pc lights. I haven’t had any problems. Also, if you take a look at the lid of the fog lamps on the 1 pc lights, it has 35w and 55w written on it. Am not sure what it’s for though but i think it’s the min and max wattage you can use.

3652 for the corners are brighter than 194/168.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I need the part # bulb size # for the upper taillight. Can’t seem to find that anywhere if it’s any different from the others.

keywords: upper high mount third brake taillight

Sylvania says it’s 1156 but I need confirmation.

i used 1157’s in my cleared out 90-91’s on ALL bulbs. i replaced them all because half of them were blown and the ones that weren’t were uber dim. they work fine. same bulb size i believe, i think the 1157’s are dual filament and slightly higher wattage.

okay, go ahead and ban me. i just realized you said third brake light. :frowning: damn i need to read threads better. (and i want to be a mod one of these days) damn i’m rusty.

There’s no way they can be 1156. They are a lot smaller, I just went out and checked.

do you have pics of the bulb(s)? that would help a little bit. they aren’t the same as the map and dome lights are they? more than likely not but just tryin to get ideas.

edit you should have used your middle finger for your “I” lol. it almost looks like it if you look at it too fast.

WTF are you talking about middle finger?? Weirdo.

They look like the ones in the side taillights, but those are a bitch to get to.

your sig a-hole :giggle:

What bulb # is the the coin tray next to the cig light?

i dont think there is one. every teg i’ve ever seen didn’t have one. might be wrong though. i’ve had that portion of my dash out like 985735239274639206368239287293474 times and i dont recall there ever being a bulb in there. i might be wrong though.
besides, its supposed to be an ash tray, not coin tray. who the fuck would want to see their ashes lit up. i dont smoke but i still keep my coins in the damn coin tray on the underside of the dash to the left of the steering wheel. i keep the remote to my cd player (the remote is pretty small) in the ashtray. as well as 1 of each kind of fuse in case something blows in the fusebox.

The reason there is a light on the ash tray is so at night when smokers go to put their cigarettes out, they don’t put them out on the center console.
