Light Flywheel advice

I am replacing my clutch and want to replace my stock flywheel with an aftermarket lightened flywheel. What brand should I look at for a decently priced, but still quality flywheel for my daily driver?

ACT
Exedy
Spoon
Toda
Fidanza

Best bang for the buck would probably be the ACT

depends on where you look. i hear more horror stories about ACT than any other. Fidanza make the best stuff. Clutchmasters makes some nice ones.

make your mind up on the clutch if you already haven’t and then go for the flywheel, exedy makes the best compromise between a 7lb race and 12lb street flywheel, theirs is 9 and some change…thats what i’m goin for, especially since i already have a exedy organic!

Dont get a really light (7lb) flywheel because I have heard they can be hard to drive…

Thats not true, its hard to drive if you shift like a fag. I was afraid of using a light flywheel on my teg but I decided to try it anyway. I got the exedy 9.5lb. Its incredibly fun to drive, I was surprised how much fun it is. I would even have got a lighter flywheel if I would have know. I’m not a race pilot and I drive my car in the traffic too, just to give you an idea.

I went with the fidanza 7.5lbs one and i haven’t had any problems driving and didn’t really notice that big of a difference. the revs do drop a lil quicker but you won’t have a problem changing gears unless it takes you 15 seconds to do it lol. i only went with the exedy stock replacement clutch by accident but i am not out racing mine either but i do like it though. hope it helps

ACT Prolight (8.8 lbs)

ACT is the best bang for the buck, and people that get the streetlight (12 lbs) say that it really doesnt make that big of difference

I have the prolight and love it, make it much funner to drive

thanks everyone for all the advice.
i’ll look into all of the suggested brands and weights and let you know what I decided to get.
i also heard that if you get a 7lb or lighter flywheel you can spin a bearing really easily. is that true? i doubt it.

Somone just made this same comment yesterday, I said :wtf: and asked if anyone else had heard that and 3 people said that its :bs: so No I dont think its true, I have never heard of it anyways…

It may be said just becasue you can rev the shit out of your engine really quick with a light flywheel, You have to be carful, you miss a gear, and your hittin revlimiter cuz it revs so damn quick…maybe thats why they say that

i’ve had my ACT prolite flywheel for atleast 2 years now and i’m now using it in my new build with no problems what so ever.

i think im going to get the Fidanza that i found at this website

nothing beats oem itr

:werd: i jst got one today for 70 bucks, and the itr flywheel is 10 lbs. im goin wit a exedy oem replacemnt with this flywheel and ive heard alot of good things with this setup.

I like this one:

I am currently using an ACT streetlight flywheel in my GS for about 8 months now. I certainly felt a difference with it installed, the engine just revs up faster. However I think I’m noticing an increase in the engine bucking around, and almost studdering when accelerating over a bump/pothole. Has anyone else noticed this occuring after installing any kind of lightweight flywheel?
