Anybody got any lightweight wheels on their feet? I’m looking to buy some. I seen OBX has some that are 11lbs for 17inches. I want some black wheels in addition to being lightweight. if anyone got pics or know where i can **** some let me know.

they’re selling Axis VPD 15" for $620 with tires and free shipping right now. Just found out at theirwebsite that they weigh 12 lbs and retails for 144 each wheels. 620 with tires is like stealing. I think its way better than getting rotas, much better quality I think. I’ll get one soon.
OBX does make wheels of 11lbs at 17in. I seen it in my latest issue of Super Street. there wheels are called Nippons

i don’t see them on their website, you didn’t give me the name of hte model, plus, none of them are listed with a weight anyway.
i’m not saying that you’re wrong, i just find it VERY hard to believe. OBX isn’t exactly the type of company i really think is capable of making an 11lb 17" wheel. Thats better than anything that even mugen or Volk make. Lightweight budget wheels are typically 11.5-14lbs and only in 15", the larger ones are of course higher. and by budget i mean rims that aren’t gonna cost ya $300-$400 per rim like the volks, spoons, mugens… will cost you.
it just seems hard to believe that obx would be able to do it when others aren’t. if they truly can then i’ll be pumped to see how light they could make some 15’s. of course, you gotta remember strength too.

In the November 2002 issue of Super Street on page 133 they have a section on OBX Nippn wheels Ultra light series. Its 5 different wheels. The C-Type, Pro Spec, F2, P1 II, and the Lightstar. The lightest wheel listed is the C-type and Pro Spec t 10lbs at 15"~16". They like similar to those 5Zigen lightweights. Then theres a Spoon look alike the F2. Listed at 11lbs from 15"~17". The one I’m interested in are the Lightstar listed at 15lbs 17"~18". They also hav the P1 II and 10lbs 15"~17" also. The only ones I seen on that OBX website were the F2’s at the very bottom. But knowin me I’ll probably just buy someones GSR wheels and coat them black. I’m tired of expensive tires.

i noticed that you labelled things as “10lbs 15”~17"" you really don’t think that the 15" wheel weighs as much as the 17" now do you? If they could make the 17" 10lbs, wouldn’t the 15" be closer to 8-9lbs at least? Most likely if its written like that they are only talking about the smallest one, the larger ones are obviously going to weigh more. I’m still even skeptical about a 10lb 15" wheel. how much are these wheels retailing for. i thought obx was a fairly low priced company. if they are retailing for more then maybe i can see it being possible.
oh, and your comment about your wheels…yeah, usually wheels weigh more than we think…it sucks.
Rota’s
If you want black lightweight wheels, I would check out Rota wheels, the slipstream model in particular. They make them in like 7 different finishes, including gunmetal, mat-black, gold, silver, black with a polished lip, ect. They are also reletively cheap, for a set of 16" wheels with Kumho ecsta tires for $699, and they only weigh 13lbs. They are almost exactly like spoon wheels, but they have two bolt patterns instead of one. Check out Modacar.com, they have them along with other rota wheels.
Ah yes, I shoulda specified. The 17" F2 weight around 14lbs. Never sht a shtter!:bang: :lol:
go with the rotas. i got a set of sub sero’s. my old rims weighed 16 lbs a piece… the sub zeros 11-12 lbs. yea i could feel a little difference, thinking about another set for my AWD beast!:bowdown:

those rims on top look like the VPD with the center cap removed.
personally, I think all the wheels look “Yuck!” for lack of a better term. The wheels do not appear high quality. I can’t imagine them being superlights with the strength to back them up. Most of the spokes on the rims appear thick, because cheap manufacturers use cheap and weak materials. I know money is always a concern, but spend the extra $100 - $200 and get slightly better rims. You will be happier in the long run and won’t have to be embarrassed that you got cheap rims.

Oh, and about black wheels. I love my black rims. Very low key which is what I like. You can forget about taking pictures of your car to show off the rims because in every picture, my car looks like it’s on steelies.
Best part is that I never have to clean them and you can touch it up with a Sharpie marker.
