Just got my 508D DEI Radar sensor thing and hooked it up just like it said. Got the Ground connected to the Orange (-) on Armed using a diode and the + to the red always 12v. Hooked the other 2 cables to the Multiplex input through the same diode as my trunk light cause I didnt think it would make much difference. No matter what settings its on after the alrm is armed the thing will not detect anything! Neither of the lights light up, 1 light per zone. So I take it something must be wrong with the unit itself.
Or maybe FCM knows whats wrong… Lol but I know you answer 99.9% percent of the stuff in here which is really great and thanks for your help. But yeah if anyone has had a similar problem or knows whats wrong help me out! Ive been trying to figure it out for the 2 hrs I had befor work and got nothing! Until then Ill be :read: …
If the outputs, green and blue, from the 508D are connected to a line that has a load, like a light bulb on it, not isolated from the load, [or load not isolated from them] the ground output trigger from the sensor, [very low current] it will supply a ground to the load, in this case the trunk light will get all the output from the sensor.
What is the make and model of the alarm?
What sensor/triggers have you got connected, and how are they connected?
Trunk/hatch trigger should not be connected to a multiplex input, connect it to the hood pin input, if the alarm does not have a dedicated trunk/hatch trigger input.:dozing: 94
Well I have the trunk trigger and hood trigger both going to the multiplex, but each has a diode. I ll get a diode for the 508d and see how that goes. I also have a diode on the Orange wire which I used for ground because I read online you should have one their. This is a clifford matrix 50.5x.
The hood pin should be connected to the gray hood pin input lead, (H3/4).
You do not need a diode on the orange ground out when armed lead, (H1/12), unless you are using it for more then one thing, EG; 508D and starter disable.
As for the 508D, I would start by testing the 508D first, connect to 12V+ and ground, and confirm with a multimeter that there is output on the green and blue leads.
I would also connect the 508D to the shock sensors input.
Cut the green lead of the shock sensor and connect it, [shock sensor cut end] to the blue lead, then connect bot the blue and the green from the 508D to the shock sensors green lead, [main unit cut end], there should be a diagram in the 50.5X install guide.:whisper:94
Connecting to the shock sensor inputs was not an option so I just got some more diodes and connected it correctly to the multiplex input. Didnt get anything at all. So I connected it straight up to 12v and grounded it to see if it would even output a signal and nothin happened! There are 2 leds that are supposed to light up to show that it is outputting either a warn wawy or a full alarm and neither did anything. I think I may contact the seller and request a new one.
If the red and black went to power and ground and neither LED lights up when passing your hand over the unit, the sensitivity is set all the way down or the unit is defective.
If the green and blue output leads were connected to the same input as the trunk/hatch trigger and the trunk/hatch light was not isolated from the green and blue outputs properly, [diode on trunk/hatch trigger lead before 508Ds trigger leads, it will blow the outputs of the 508D.
When you get the new 508D connect it to the impact sensor input as recommended by DEI for second dual stage sensor.:whisper: 94
