Looking for suspension with about $600 to spend.

Hey guys I have been doing some research on some suspension setups to run on my da. I have about $600 to spend. I know its not a lot and I wont get an amazing setup but it has to be better than the stocks with ebay springs I am on now. So far I have looked at f&f type 1s, progress cs-2, Godspeed rs, sk2 pro s, and some gc/illumina combos. All of those are within a $600ish range and all have different spring rates and pros/cons. I would like to have some dampening adjustable coilovers and I know that the f&f 1s dont have that option and neither do the progress cs-2 but I have read that they are both still a good setup. The Godspeeds have 16 way dampening and the illuminas have 5 dampening settings.

My goals are some daily driving and mountain runs. A lot of spirited driving. I wont be making more than 170whp and I will be running og axis oldskools, fairly light wheels, with new 195/50/15 nexen street/sport tires. Daily ride quality isnt really a huge concern since I wont be having my kids in this vehicle lol. I am more concerned with how will it handle when I dive in and out of a corner.

Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated! I would love to hear from a few people with personal experience with these or other setups in this price range.

I think someone was selling some F&F type 2s on here for under your price. I’ve heard pretty good things about them.

EDIT:
Here is one.

I don’t know personally about these, but I’m sure someone can give you some feedback.

He told those already. =\ I wanted to trade him my Skunk2 Pro-S II’s.

dang! lol thanks tho man. I am still looking around and waiting for some more feedback from people if any lol

Could possibly sell mine, been toying with the idea of going back to a standard strut/spring combo.

There’s plenty feedback on coil over brands here, sk2 pro s 2 work great for me. I daily mine on road, firm on hard corners. Smooth on the high way. Not fully adjustable shocks but spring and height is good. I’d buy them again.

Like, I don’t mind them too bad, but their dampening is just too stiff, and I want to raise the rear more, but I’m out of threads.

The term is “damping”.

what would you want for your sk2s boosted teg? As long as they ride decent and perform well on winding roads i am interested!

Coilovers are not going to run smoothly as stock. You have to realize if you go aftermarket to improve performance it’s at the cost of comfort. You don’t like the rough feel to Coilovers the stay stock.

Ah, well thank you for the correction then. Their damping is a bit too stiff for rough streets. In the mountains or on the track they feel fantastic.

Also, there needed to be a comma before your quotation marks.

Anyhow, I’d need to find a replacement for my car before I could sell them, but I’ll see what I can find.

I got FnF’s type 1’s and the ride a bit stiffer then stock but not overly stiff where your back is gonna be killing you after a long ride [ I have stock seats]. I can feel every bump and I’m running 195 45 15’s stretched tires. One thing is… for aggressive riding I like doing at times, I wish I could have adjustable dampening… but getting stiffer sway bars may help… ITR Sway bar??

I read a lot about the f&f 1s and I see that people use them more for just being slammed and stance than anything. But on a good nite my budget is now $800 and I found either koni/gc for that price or buddyclub N+ spec one piece coilovers. Leaning towards the konis but we will see.

“Spirited driving and mountain runs.”
Get Progress CS2. i have them on my db1 with 350f/350r. It was said thats a bit rough for dailying but im a spirited driver/daily

I ended up going with tokico illumina and gc combo. I called gc and they were very helpful, set me up with 380 in the front and 340 in the rear after asking about how I drive and what’s all done to the car. They even gave me a bit of a discount! Very happy with their service. Now let’s hope the ride is damn decent! Lol thank you to everyone who responded with advice and opinions, I greatly appreciate it.

Based on that budget that’s the exact setup I was about to recommend. Let us know how you like it!

Well my gc’s should be here Monday and the struts should be here Thursday. So we will see. I need to make a new thread about my da. I got this one in complete shambles. Bad motor, crap trans, wrecked front end etc. And she is now almost ready to be my badass little dd:)
