I was just curious as to where is a reputable place i can order a twin loop muffler. I am looking to get a replica not the real mugen and hytech cause its outta my price range. So i was just wondering where a good reputable site/place to get one is?
anyone?
i’d say ebay man. thats the cheapest place to get it and my friend just ordered one and it is actually quiet. it hasnt been so long so i’m not sure how the sound will be in the long run. but so far so good.
I found one but he doesnt ship to canada. I cant seem to find another one. If anyone can please help me it would be greatly appreciated.
How about this one? Says he will ship to Europe and N/S America. I don’t know if this is the guy you already found though.
Wow… according to his shipping calculator, it would cost $31 to ship to me… thats not bad.
What is the deal behind this muffler? Is it anything special?
Not sure, just saw a fellow G2ICer was looking for one, and had a few minutes to help them out.
get the obx off ebay, nice quality, just got mine the other day.
operator207,
That seller on ebay is a good one. I have bought a few things from him before and I have not had 1 complaint. VERY good seller!
How quiet is the muffler? The reason im asking is obviously everyone here knows how annoying one of those fireball mufflers or any ebay muffler can be…where they echo like crazy in the car on the highway. i want something thats gonna be quiet as possible without sacrificing huge amounts of power. I hate those loud mufflers…ill put 2.5" exhaust all the way to the back if i have to, and run a stock muffler to keep the sound down if i have to but …im looking for an alternative
even with a great flowing exhaust system and a free flowing canister muffler, you are GAINING huge amounts of power, so losing huge power shouldn’t be an issue really.
the idea behind twin-loop muffler setups are pretty much as follows. (now obviously, reputable makers of said muffler like Mugen are gonna have better products but you get my point)
to have a muffler that flows almost as well as any canister on the market, but being half as loud. now if you have a canister with a 3 inch inlet and the interior muffling chambers is like 3 inches all the way through will be superior, but at the expense of your ear-drums.
they flow pretty well considering the bends are smooth and mandrel bent, and (at least on a quality unit) the muffling chambers on the inside are relatively “high flow” as well. so you get a decent flowing muffler to complement your performance exhaust system, and you will fly under the radar as far as noise output. now if you have a stock exhaust system but want this muffler in place of a canister, you might as well get a stock muffler, as neither one is worth it as far as power goes.
Well…basically waht my set-up will consist of is b17 with b18c5 cams, ebay stainless header, either no cat, or high flow cat, with 2.5" exhaust to the back of the car then some type of muffler, I was considering putting a stock muffler back on, but if i can find a free flowing muffler that actually quiets the exhaust way down when your cruising on the highway…ill buy it. Like i said…i want the car to be able to take on trips…the tranny will have the LS 5th gear in it, but i just dont want the sound on the highway. So i just wanted to know who’s got experience with the twin loops and to give some feedback.
its not too loud and im real sensitive to it. id say keep the resanator on and it will be real nice. i got the obx twin loop, magnaflow cat, and 2.25 piping, no resanator and its a bit loud for me, im putting on a res, see what happens.
any pics of this on the da?
here’s 1 on my DA…
where?
would like to see a pic!
