Loud humming from right side only in reverse.

Okay, i searched and went over the troubleshooting guide. From the results i went out and jacked the car up and released the parking brake and spun the wheel. It spun rather freely though there was this slight intermittent friction noise like the pad was making contact. But it was relatively free. I tried shaking the wheel back/forth, up/down and there was no play. I went to my front wheels and put it in neutral. It seemed kinda hard to turn compared to the rear but i assumed it was normal due to increased friction and rotational weight with the axles and such. Shook the wheel too and there was no play.

Now the problem:
It just happened today too when i went out, and my dad noticed it as well. It only happens in reverse, i’m not exactly sure if this is part of it, but my wheel is turned to the left (meaning i would be moving left backwards). I am not entirely certain if it only happens with my wheel turned.

the noise i can only explain as a loud humming noise, not a screeching or any kind of metallic sound. Its just like a loud somewhat low tone “wooong” (excuse me for trying to explain a sound through text). Its loud enough to make it hard to discern if its the front or rear from inside the car.

Loose cv joints or intermediate shaft bearing. Reverse is a different concept for FWD cars. Lots more stress on these axles during back-up than conventional RWD. Have you looked around for split boots? Thrown around grease?

last time i looked the cv boots seemed okay. I’ll take a look at it when i do the suspension this week. didnt make noise when i backed up today. its weird how it comes and goes, i’ll try turning more when backing up. It sounds like it could be a sticking caliper sound, but i’ve already checked and they dont drag.

Check wheel/hub bearings.

Check your rear bushings for forward/aft play. Any tipping will grab at the brakes unevenly. Or, get dirty and check the slides on the calipers.

will definately check everything you guys said that when i have the wheels off for the suspension install this weekend.
