Lower control arm?

Just replaced a bad balljoint, and a busted fork bushing, now I can’t seem to get the lower control arm back into place, is there a special trick to this? Any tips would be great!

it can be hard sometimes, but theres no trick. you just need to get a big bar and pry where ever you can to get it into place. what bolt are you talking about exactly that you cant get into place?

There is a trick to get the holes lined up so you can put the bolt through.

Just use a jack and place it under the LCA and slowly jack it up until the hole align… then put the bolt in the holes and use a sledgehammer to slowly pound it through… that always work for me… good luck.:ok:

the bold that connects the LCA to the chassis.

have you tried putting that one in first and then put the shock and lower balljoint in?

i have, but the hub assembly doesn’t seem to have any movement. It seems like the balljoint is only an inch away, but it might as well be a mile! So im on the right track? Should i use a hammer or a mallet to push it in?

you can try just make sure not to mess any treads up. when i install my lower control arm i always put the lower control arm bolt in first…then the shock bolt and the lower balljoint. the whole hub assembly moves more then enough to put it in. sounds like you have something binding somewhere?

is the ball joint to far out or is it to far in? if its to far out then the bearings in your cv most likely popped out which is whats causing it to jam. happened to me twice.

The balljoint is too far out. But i think your right my cv might have popped out. (it’s hard to work on it when you have a 1 week old baby at home!) Thanx for all your help.

then its definitely your inner cv joint that poped out. if your lucky you can get it back into place. if not you have to cut the big collar holding the boot on and place the bearings in by hand and put a new collar.
