ls into gsr wiring ?

picked up a db2 no engine(stolen stripped). can only afford to drop in the ls engine. what is this extra connector? or is the car missing a connector.

plan on dropping in the engine next week. needing a ls main harness is really gonna suck

so i started removing tape and went down into the harness more and i havnt found any cut wires.

i found a pic of another DB2 with the b17 in i and its the same thing. 2 connectors, 1 is plugged in the other is capped(service maybe). all other engine bays i see (ls,rs,gs) have 3 connectors. 2 plugged in and 1 capped why does the LS harness have 3 connectors? if i leave the extra plug hanging will i be ok?

All I have is the Haynes manual but according to it the only yellow/black leads are the output from the PGM-FI Main Relay, [hot when ign. switch in run and start],

The output powers two inputs to the ECM/ECU and power for the injectors, it is also power to the fuel pump relay, [internal, the output from the fuel pump relay is yellow/black] on 90-91 G2s that injector power, [yellow/black] goes to the “Fuel Injector Resistors” plug. there will be four red/black leads on the plug also, they go to each injector.
The 92-93 G2s fuel injector output, [also yellow/black] goes to a junction, [there is no “Fuel Injector Resistor”] the four injector leads and two other leads are all connected together in the junction, [J/C] they are all yellow/black, the two extra yellow/blacks go on to power up a valve and an engine sensor, anywayyyyyyyy…

I see a plug with at least five yellow/black leads, [are there seven yellow/black leads in the plug?] does it have a junction plug plugged into it, [“capped”]

To be clear, what year is the car, and what engine did it have, [before it was stripped out]?
What year of car did the LS engine come out of, did the engine harness come with the engine?:stare:94

o sweet im glad it was you to help.

i see the one that is capped. all yellow wires. ive always seen it on 92-93 tegs. and then theres the large on that goes does have a home. but the last one is colored with green red and yellow. you can see in the pic i posted. i have a helms but im not finding what i need. well actually im just geting lost in all the diagrams.

engine = 92 LS (ex auto)
engine harness = 93 LS
car = 92 GS-R
previous engine = B18c or C1 im not sure

ive gone thru many engine bay pic threads and all the rs,gs,ls that i see with no resistor box(92-93), still have 3 connectors (2 connected, 1 capped), now the GS-R has 2(1 connected, 1 capped). check out this pic and if you zoom in you can see what im saying about the gsr. and you can see on the bracket where the other connector would have been.

GSR

LS

i also noticed that by the map sensor those 2 black cylindrical things, the GSR has 1 and the LS has 2… Im still gonna drop the engine in. i can still get the main harness out if i need to. And i have a main harness from a 92 GS but it was auto. maybe ill just slice up that harness and just follow the wires lol

It makes sense that the plug with the yellow/blacks has a junction plug plugged into it, all the yellow/blacks need to be joined together as there is no “Fuel Injector Resistor” for the 92-93 engines.

It’s hard to see but is the 3rd plug actually plugged into something or is it also just clipped to the a bracket?
I know on the CDM Integra there is a DRL, [daytime running lights] resistor pack that I believe is mounted around there someplace.:shrug:94

thats a good question.

can anyone take a quik peek under their hood for me? how many are actually plugged in?

here u go… would have loved that white Db2 from missy but u beat me to it…

its my b17 into an rs
hope this helps

i have only one (farthest left) plugged in

daaaaaamn i have the proper home for that b17 over here bro:naughty:

missy is always checking up on the progress. unfortunately the b18a1 is going in for now… we’ll see what i can get in there next year :cross:

times are rough

thanks for the pic.

so i finally dropped the engine in and i noticed what the issue is. it seems the plug from the driver side was moved to the passenger side

passenger side main harness

driver side engine harness

now there is a matching color for each wire. only thing is that the main harness is an 8 pin and the engine harness has a 6 pin. im assuming the extra 2 would be for the vtec.

I am having the exact same problem. Did you figure it out?

I am doing basically the opposite(obd1 db1 main harness, db2 engine harness), and out of frustration have taken out the mulitmeter and started working out the plugs on the main harness. I am not certain that the pinouts on the plugs are the same so I am starting from scratch. Wish I just had an ls engine harness…

^ wanna trade???

i got an OBD1 LS engine harness

just a though that would help both of us out

lol true, but I am almost finished decoding the harnesses. Hoping to finish and get the car running tomorrow or the next. Check my thread for updates, it might be of use.

yeah, i hate wiring, especially on a decode and re-pin basis
