so i have 240k+ mi on the bottom end and i was thinking about doing a slight rebuild to turbo on like 10psi
how do you guys think i should do this?
i was thinking some new honda rings and bearings and a port and polish job on the head
there isnt anything wrong with the motor right now its just getting old and i want more power
i know im gonna have the rods and pistons checked before i use them again
and get a fresh hone on the block with a through cleaning
also was prob gonna put in some head studs just in case
New piston rings
New main/rod bearings
Upgraded ARP rod bolts
Upgraded ARP headstuds
Hone block
Might as well do new water pump/tensioner/timing belt and oil pump.
The reason I say rod bolts is because with that mileage, they are likely going to stretch if you re-use them… and our LS motors actually use the same rod bolts as single cam motors… some ARP replacements would do wonders for longevity, especially under boost.
yea i was gonna do headstuds i could get some new oem honda rod bolts
i actually already did water pump and timing belt and tensioner when the head spit a spark plug (twice)lol
you have a good idea with the rod bolts tho thanks man

OEM replacements are $35’ish… I’d totally go the ARP route for a few extra bucks.

+1 for arp upgrades
I think they are a must for rod bolts when turbocharging
well i think arp rod bolts are a winner then
Just get the 8mm ones as the 9mm ones are for vtec rods. But still a huge improvement over OEM LS bolts.
