I have a 93 LS bottom end and 2000 b16 head, running a pwo ecu. A local shop said to get 90-91 jdm b16 injectors, so I did, but at the time of the conversion, they said the injectors would not fit the head. So they just used my stock 90 LS injectors. What injectors should I be using? I’d like to swap out the LS injectors because they are high mileage. Thanks for your help.
any non obd injectors will work just fine (89-91). all b series injectors flow the same anyway.
newer is better only because they may be in better shape. It’s always a good idea to send your injectors to www.rceng.com to have the cleaned. They even give you a spec sheet w/ before and after specs on your injectors.
Thanks for the help. Somebody else said to make sure if you use a non-obd ecu, then use non-obd injectors, so I’ll try the 90 b16a’s. I hope the plug fits. The shop that said these injectors won’t fit has a good reputation around here, but I’ll experiment myself. Good luck with your car.
it really doesn’t matter what ecu you use… it matters what obd you are. 89-91 cars are obd0 (aka non obd). 92-95 cars are obd1. The plugs on the harnesses are all different. So, you can’t run an obd1 ecu in your 89-91 even if you wanted to (well, there are ways around it, like jumper harnesses… but lets not go there yet).
since you’re staying obd0, then yes, you must use obd0 ecu, injectors and distributor, any others just won’t plug into the wiring correctly.
there are chances that the different injectors will fit differently with different fuel rails, i’m really not 100% sure about that. But from what i’ve been told all b series injectors fit all b series engines, the only thing that is different is the type of injector (saturated or peak - hold) and if they plug into the wiring (which as long as you use 89-91 injectors you’ll be fine).
