Robear Racing. GOLDEN EAGLE FULL VTEC CONVERSION KIT FOR LS/VTEC & B20/VTEC
Anyone ever tried or heard of this???
i have used it on a few motors i have built, here is what i like and don’t like
likes:
dowl pins- no drilling of the head to relocate(open up)
uses oem headgasket and bored to your specs(i love this)
dislikes:
that extension for the oil filter so you can put the oil line to, every time you change the filter, be careful to not loosen the extension too. pain the ass to hold it in place and then twist the filter off.
overall good price for the kit, if you don’t mind the filter extending back some then it’s a good kit overall.
i would reccomend it to those who haven’t built a lsvtec from scratch and never machined the head
Hmm sounds like a go! the price does seem reasonable for what your buying considering you have all the parts and all.
So I ordered a Golden Eagle kit (e-bay 220 shipped), and it came with a OEM Honda headgasket for a vtec motor.
I looked the part number up on alldata and its the same PN (12251-P30-014) for the 93 b17a, 94+ b18c GSR’s and 99-00 Civic si,
but is not the PN (12251-PR4-004) for my LS and EVERY lsvtec build I have read says to match the headgasket to the block. Some even knock the golden eagle kits because of the wrong gaskets.
Question is: Because of the re-location of the stepped dowl pins via the kit, am I supposed to use that vtec headgasket? Has anyone used it on there lsvtec build? Do I see about getting a LS headgasket?
stray off topic
speaking of partnumbers, interesting to see oil pump part number is the same for my b18a and a b17, but different then a b18c or b16a.
I am going to stick with my stock oil pump for now.
Waterpump and timing belt part numbers are different for just about everything, I am not sure exactly what one I need, I was told any b16 timing/water kit will work so I got them for a 99Si. Then I hear I need it for a b18c due to a taller deck on the 1.8 motors. Searching more I find people say I just need to match the timing belt to the pump I use, does that just mean if i use a LS pump use a LS belt, if I use a GSR pump use a GSR belt?
Question is: Will 99-00 Civic Si b16a waterpump & timing belt work for my 91lsvtec with a jdm 91 b16a head?
If not then 93, 94-96, 97-98, 98-01 integra GS-R kit? part numbers are different at each year brake. Should I just get a new kit for my b18a?
I do not plan on taking the motor past 7k, maby7.5k if the power line looks happy (not dropping off) when I dyno.
ps. I searched
I used the Full Race VTEC conversion kit and it was cake to install. It was like 80 bucks but it doesnt come with the head gasket (which was ok because I wanted to run an OEM LS head gasket anyway). Most people say that the GE head gasket works, but a lot of folks say that it’s probably best to use the OEM LS one.
You’ll need a GSR or ITR timing belt if youre using a VTEC water pump. I’m using an ITR timing belt with a water pump out of a 99 Si. You can use your LS water pump IF you use an LS timing belt, but most people recommend the VTEC route to avoid cavitation.
